How are you & FH saving for the wedding? Is there a budget you follow for expenses? How much of the wedding are you paying for on your own?

FH & I opened a joint savings account after our engagement party & put all our monitary gifts in the account. We have been adding here & there but have not been able to add on a consistent basis. We are getting help with paying for the venue from our parents but we still need money for everything else. I want to sit down & assess our expenses and see how much we can each put aside.

We havnt been saving per say. As soon as we get a certain amount of money we give it to the RH even if we dont have a payment due.We are trying to get everything payed off as early as possible. We are paying for the whole thing ourselves but my parents bought me my dress and my mom is doing the favors.

We are paying for everything ourselves. Luckily, FH has been very good about saving throughout his life, so we have savings to dip into. It also helps that we are older and have time in our careers behind us. Also, we gave ourselves lots of time to plan.

I put the money into the wedding budget and FH pays almost every other bill. We have a set amount that we put into the savings account each month, along with any gifts, bonuses, and tax returns.

We are paying for roughly 75% of the wedding ourselves.

Our parents are helping with the RH, but since I only work part time, my FH is really paying for the majority of it himself. I paid for the invitations and will be paying for the bo-k's. My parents are also outfitting me lol. So they are paying for my dress, makeup and hair, shoes, jewelry, veil and headpiece. They are also getting all my girls' hair and makeup done, and helping with the bridal shower and bachelorette party. They are helping A LOT. I will also be DIYing the programs and menus, and what I call our guests' 'Welcome Packages.' I will be putting a little package together for each guest with a menu, photosharing card, and I Spy card.

Fh and I opened a joint account... We put all of our engagement gifts in the account.
Fh gets paid weekly so every week he gives me a certain amount of money which lately has been giving me extra since he has been working a lot of OT ..yay!
We will also put our tax checks in there as well once next year comes.

My parents are paying for the reception hall and my dress. For everything else, we opened a joint checking account and put all of our engagement party gift money into it. We also have a jar we put spare change in and such to save a bit extra. We both have automatic deposits of portions of our paychecks go into the joint checking account. I have a feeling we'll both be putting our tax returns in as well.

My parents are kind enough to pay for the reception, which is about 50% of our budget.

I've been able to pay off the Photographer, DJ and my wedding dress by using my bonuses from work, while keeping my normal paycheck paying bills and going into savings.

FH moved from Florida to NY to be with me within the past two years, and he's struggled to re-establish himself. He just found a good job, and hopefully that will set us up well. Meanwhile he's taken care of small odds and ends like STDs, postage for those, etc. He also has done a lot of leg work in getting limo quotes, gathering up everyone's mailing addresses etc that I don't have time for.

It's called the flip of a normal relationship, but we're making it work.

We've tapped into our savings and instead of putting X amount away to savings each month we send it to our RH. Plus I have a pretty intricate budget that I built on Excel that I try to follow lol - I am kind of a spreadsheet nerd.

We are paying for everything and are keeping all wedding monies in an interest bearing account that we make automatic weekly deposits into and then once a month we deposit any extra monies into the wedding accout also. I too have spreadsheets for everything and know to the penny what monies are for the wedding vs for personal savings or other budget items. Sounds crazy but keeps me calm...lol

My parents are paying for the reception venue and FHs parents gave us a certain amount of money to use towards everything else. We also got money as engagement gifts that we have in an account. I then was able to create a budget for all the vendors based on the money we were given. So far I'm pretty on budget. I know we'll probably go over a little though.

Ooooo sounds interesting! What's a photo sharing card & the I Spy card? Sounds fun!
