Work has been super slow and boring at my office this week. These are the times when I find myself thinking about what I want in a 'career,' not a job. So, that is where I got my NWR QOTD on this gloomy Friday morning:
If you could earn a good living doing your dream job (no matter what type of work), what would you be doing? What about FH? What do you both do now?
I would probably run the world’s largest no-kill animal shelter. I know that makes me sound like a crazy dog/cat lady, but I am a total sucker for animals and would love to be able to help rescue them for a living. I am currently an office manager for a landscape development company. Part of my job is running our green roof division, which can be a lot of fun at times. But, at the end of the day, the work itself really isn’t fulfilling or meaningful to me in any significant way.
Jason would be an artist—probably specializing in metals. That’s where his heart is and where his educational focus was, but it doesn’t pay the bills. His current job is in law enforcement. He enjoys that he gets to help people, but hates that he also sees the worst sides of people, too.
If I could have my dream job... I honestly have no idea what I would do. I would like to probably be a comedienne and have my own talk show a la Chelsea Handler.
FHs dream job would involve working with kids and inventing things.
Right now I'm a receptionist for a busy surgical practice and although its frustrating at some points... I do love it.
FH currently has a Chandler Bing job. He goes to an office and does stuff with car dealerships and AAA. I'm not really sure. But he has an office.

Actually, though, I have my masters degree from Columbia in Clinical Social Work.
When did you graduate? I'm a Columbia School of Social Work alumni myself!
I am currently an LCSW social worker on an inpatient psychiatric unit at a hospital. Its a very trying job but I absolutely love it. It can be one of the most frustrating, sad, funny, fulfilling, violent, touching, and moving jobs all in one day. My days are always nonstop and very fast paced. My dream job is to run a not for profit mental health agency.
My FH works in the warehouse at his family's company where they sell equipment to service airplanes. He likes his job a good amount because he gets to work with his hands and isn't the desk job type. His dream job would be creating video games or just plain playing Xbox...like he is right now! Lol
