Today is the anniversary of the date i got engaged!!! (9/19/11) So, in celebration of that, I have a related question!
I'm sure that this was asked before but.... tell us your engagement story!!
Were there any mishaps that happened due to the surprise? (if it was a surprise)

FW came home and said she wanted to go to the beach to give me my anniversary gift early (our plan was to do sentimental gifts- our anniversary was 9/27). i was eating, and i subsequently choked on some cauliflower. = bad mood lauren lol we drove to the beach and she handed me my gift- a scrapbook of 'our story' at the end there was a picture of a ring drawn in and the big question!!!! ps my mood improved LOL
i was surprised too!

We had made plans to go skydiving (my second time, his first) and then spend a weekend in our favorite place, Atlantic City. We got to the skydive place, were trained, and went up in the plane to get ready to jump. While we were approaching the max altitude and he was about to jump out, he got on his knee with a small box and said 'When we get down to the ground, i have something to ask you...' and then the box flew out of his hand and out the open door!!! Everyone gasped and freaked out...but it was clearly a joke because who would be so irresponsible with a diamond ring??
He jumped, I jumped (i was a complete mess this time around...nerves + engagement+jumping out of a plane = no bueno lol) and then as i parachuted in, he was on one knee with the most GORGEOUS RING EVER... we were both so high on adrenaline that he messed up his speech and interrupted him saying 'YES!' before he could even finish.
It was pretty epic. Here's a video i made of it...LOL
When we went on a cruise for my birthday, we planned to have a balcony dinner. We got a four course meal with waiter service right on our own private balcony. About halfway through the salad course, FH said he wasn't feeling well and went into the stateroom. I knew something was up because I heard him whispering. When he came back, I asked him who he was talking to, but he said he wasn't talking to anyone. I asked if he had asked about the banana split (which was a special dessert that he made up solely to keep the whole thing going), but he denied it. I thought I got my hopes up for nothing. Sure enough, right before dessert, the waiter brought out the ring on a plate. FH pretended like he knew nothing about it, and told me to open it. Once I opened it and looked at him again, he had a big smile on his face!
What kind of got messed up I guess was that the waiter never left lol. He just stayed there by our table, so FH couldn't get down on one knee, and was a little embarrassed I guess to actually ask me in front of the waiter (he's very private and shy).
:) Thanks... today was the first time i watched it in a while and i cracked up the whole time. So awkward and hilarious.

Happy engage-a-versary. Today is our 6 year dating anniversary anywho, 12/24/09, I was working and FH and I had planned on having my family over his parents house for Christmas Eve dinner. He cooked and cleaned all day. Missed hint number 1. When I got home he was all shaky but I brushed it off blaming it on the whole cooking/cleaning thing. Missed hint number 2. My family shows up and we all start talking and dinner is served. Halfway through eating he gets up and walks out of the room. I then realize his sister is missing too. Missed hint number 3. Next thing I know hes tapping me on the shoulder telling me he got me an ornament and wants me to come by the tree to see it. Well I go into the living room and he gets down on one knee and starts the whole speech. He had joked about it so many times that I thought he was kidding and I told him to stop being an a$$hole cuz my family was there . Well ps there really was a ring in the box and EVERYONE knew abou it. They all kept it a secret and I couldnt have asked for a better proposal

I had taken FH to Vegas for his 30th birthday last year. We were on our 4th night in Vegas (June 5th). We were walking the strip and looking for a place to get some ice cream. We found a place and walked back towards a outdoor seating area they have by Caesar's Palace. It was about a quarter to midnight and Jose tells me he wanted to go to the water fountain that was nearby to make a wish before his birthday hit at midnight. So we walk over and are enjoying the pretty views of the fountain. He comes from behind me and puts his arms around my waist and rests his head on my shoulder and is thanking me for the trip, he tells me how hes been having such an amazing time, how I made 1 of his wishes come true by bringing him to Vegas (he hadn't been b4). He then says I want to know if you will make one of my other wishes come true? From that moment I knew what he was about to do and I began to smile really big and I stood frozen for a few seconds. I turn to him and he asks me again and I say what wish is that? He pulls the ring box out of his pocket and opens it up and he tells me how much he loves me. Then he cracks a joke about having bad knees and having to to bend down on 1 knee.. LOL.. he does so and looks into my eyes and says 'Jasmine will you marry me?' I was teary eyed and had a huge smile on my face and of course I said YES!

Ours was 11/11/11 at 11:11pm in front of the planetarium near Central Park. He said it was a convergence of time and space! haha get it? He had gotten a hold of my iphone and set it to go off at 11:11pm and the alarm said, 'will you marry me?' He's a total nerd, that one. LOL
