This can actually double for something that works well as a wedding emergency question. To cover the black eye I went on this major makeup quest and learned a couple of things. -For a flat discoloration (like a black eye mark, not like a zit) using damp (wet the sponge) powder can provide good coverage without the heaviness of foundation. -Do not wear mascara on lower eyelashes -- it runs and makes it look even darker.

Re: QOTD: Anyone have any great makeup tips?
Actually during my make up trial - the lady was floored that I didn't use moisturizer. I started using it once or twice a day and I really see a difference. My skin just looks better - and I think my foundation stays on longer too.
-for puffy eyes, use hemorriod cream (ew) -for red zits, use toothpaste -drink lots of water

I am definitely not a make up guru by any means, but I love my eyelash curler for more 'wide open' eyes!

to make your lipstick stay (besides using the 12hr kind): -line lips and fill in with liner -apply lipstick -use a single-ply of tissue and lay lightly over lips -dust loose face powder over tissue -take off tissue (should not stick to lips as it is just laying lightly on them-not pressed against them) -reapply lipstick
some of the sealers work well as a final topcoat-benefit makes a great one, but apply sparingly-can get gloppy.

So funny -- when I flew back to LA and the security guy tried to take it away -- he must have sensed my panic because he slowly put it back and said 'Ok, there' -- cannot live without an eyelash curler!

Speaking of WIDE OPEN eyes - I have a really psychotic eyebrow fetish (FH keeps telling me I missed my caling as a waxer) and I think manicured eyebrows make all the difference in what your eyes and eye makep look like. Clean up the strays ladies!! I actually stop listening to people sometimes and fantasize about what i could do to their eyebrows to make them more attractive. It's weird - I know.
Was this even a makeup tip?...

I'm not sure if this is really a tip, but...If you want the lipstick to actually show up the same color that it looks like in the tube, take a bit of your foundation and blot it on your lips. This creates a blank palette for the lipstick and you'll get a color that more closely matches what it *should* look like.

Use green on red (zits) And yellow on blue (undereyes) Evens them out and makes them dissappear.

To get rid of reddish splotches use a green concealer, then of course foundation over it.
Apply mascara to the top of you lashes first (top meaning on over your lashes instead from under by you eyeballs) then go underneath- makes them look thicker and longer.

That is THE most important thing- it keeps you glowing like a bride should- and drink plenty of WATER!

Bronzer, Bronzer, Bronzer!! All year round! It will get rid of the white pasty-ness of winter! In the winter I apply it with alight hand and then use blush on the apples of my cheeks....You can also use it to shade/contour your face to make it look slimmer (which I definitely need!!)

Moisturizer is a must even for those who have perfect skin. I NEVER break out and I swear its because of that..BUT...All the bridal mags and such say NOT TO use mosturizer the day of your wedding. Your make-up will cling to your skin and last longer with out.

I always do this. They sell a lot of lip primers now that are like a shade of foundation with a hint of moisturizer in it.

Use an eyelash curler. It works WONDERS! Sometimes when Im in a rush all I do is lipgloss, a hint of bronzer and curl my eyelashes.

This is not so much a makeup tip but a good advice for hair. When you put moisturizer on your hands, rub it in, then put the extra left in your hair -- it is like a conditioning treatment and really good for it.
