Nicole was really stressing about posting while in PR, so she emailed me her QOTD for today, as well as her post handing the crown to a new bride ( I will post that later )

So here is her QOTD:

QOTD 4/10/09

Today's QOTD is inspired by the religious holidays that many us are/will be celebrating this week...Have you and fh decided how you are going to break up the holidays between families once you are married? Does this ever cause conflict between you and your FH or your families?

Her response:
We kinda of play the holidays by ear but we try our best to see everyone.. It can get really hard especially since his parents lives in the Bronx, my mom lives in Manhattan and my dad lives in Ronkonkoma! It has led to a few arguments in the past but I definitely think we have learned how to comrpomise! I always tell fh though once we start having children holidays will be at our house.. If our parents want to see us/their grandkids they can come to us because there is no way I am dragging babies on those long drives all over the place! lol.

FH wants to spend every holiday with his family and none with mine. Um, alright. I already told him that since my family ONLY has 4 holidays a year, and since his family celebrates even the lesser holidays (New Years Eve, New Years Day, and 4th of July), in addition to ALL birthdays for the cousins and milestone bdays, confirmations, graduations, etc, plus Orthodox Easter, that we should spend Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Catholic Easter with my family because it's only fair. We'd still be seeing his family WAY more for holidays over the course of the year, but we'd be with my family for the majority of those that they hold.

This is already a hard one. Certain holidays are easier like Christmas, because my family is Argentinian and we celebrate our big day on Christmas Eve. Then Christmas day FH and I open our presents at our house, then go to my parents who live 4 blocks away to do presents there, and we eat an early brunch around 11 am of eggs benedict! It's our tradition. FH's family does dinner, so we got there in the afternoon. Thanksgiving is hard, and so is Easter. His family never knows what they are doing for either holiday until like, the week of. It's really frustrating. We try to do one at each place every other year.

We do both families....

But majority of each holiday, we're sitting in traffic going from Queens to out east. Its kind of a pain. But we'll figure something out.
