QOTD for the TEACHERS =)

QOTD for the TEACHERS =)

As I was shopping for Father's Day items @ Hallmark, I saw all # 1 TEACHER mugs, frames and nicknacks.

So tell us...

What do you do after years of getting a gazillion 'Youre the Best Teacher' coffee mugs and bookmarks and frames and magnets?

I thought they were all adorable, and thought it must be SOOOO cute when a little one hands it to you at the end of the school year...

but I had to laugh and think... After YEARS of this, you either A) have a little # 1 TEACHER shrine or B) Have lots of # 1 TEACHER garage sales

I know anything cute, loses its cuteness after SOOOO MUCH OF IT !!

Tell us your funny responses to this please!

I'm not a teacher, but this made me laugh because my cousin just had a garage sale.... oh boy all the end of the year/Christmas knick-knacks from the kids! LOL

I never even knew that teachers got gifts, growing up we never gave a gift. Oh well.....

I think a lot of parents think like you so I wind up with a TON of candles. Frankie is like NO MORE CANDLES!!! One student once gave me a G/C to Friday's that he loved.

To be honest other than chocolate I keep everything that my kids give me. Chocolate always gets handed to the next teacher that comes in my room!

To me since my kids are in middle school, if they thought enough to buy me something then I will cherish it. And yes, my closet is packed!!

PS-- I am allergic to most candles!

I think elementary teachers get more of that kind of stuff...

being in the HS, I get the more creative...but I have gotten candles, pocketbooks, chocolate and cookies are the big one...I even got an action figure..FREUD!!lol (since I teach AP Psychology)

Eventually I just get rid of the mugs. I get so many mugs with candy and bath and body stuff. DH eats the candy and I don't know what to do with all the lotion, bath salts, etc. anymore. It is so nice when parents and students want to give you gifts, it's so sweet, but after a while I wouldn't have enough space to store the mugs!

I have gotten some great gifts though...special chocolates from this great sweets shop in SOHO, flowers, stationary, etc.

I have tons of stuff and i love it all but space does become the problem! I actually prefer when parents buy me things that I can use in the classroom...recently I received a cute little mailbox with my name on the front of it..it was so useful and adorable...

Other than that I also get many candles and picture frames which I can always use..if not...I recycle them

LOL! I just got a teacher mug today from one of my class and it's the same one I've been getting for the past 3 years! I now have a set of 3! I hope to get one more. It's actually a cute one. I usually don't like teacher mugs. I don't drink coffee/tea and just don't use them.

LOL Anna!

As a librarian the one gift that I get all the time is gift certificates to Borders...but I also get candy, mugs, ornaments and candles too...I'm just happy to get anything at all - I don't remember giving my librarian anything!

It's the cards that are GREAT. When parents have the kids write the cards, it's simply precious.

My favorite was a wedding card one of the kids made me...

Dear Mrs. XXX,
I'm so proud of you for getting married. Hope the cake was great!

Another great one for the end of the year:

Dear Mrs. XXX,
Libery was great. You are the best liberien in the 'hole' world. Libery class really knocks me off my feet!

I should add that one of my favorite gifts was made my one the high schoolers I worked with last year (he is physically and cognitively impaired). He made me a candle when he went upstate for the outdoor adventure sleep away trip. It was so thoughtful of him! That will never leave my desk!

I could decorate 7 trees with my #1 Teacher christmas ornaments.
I also get A LOT of key chains (usually #1 Teacher as well), and framed pictures of my students.

AWE Some cute gifts !!!

When I give people cards 'from' my son, I usually write them with my right hand (Im a leftY) so that they come out sloppy -and looking like a kid wrote it, and must use crayola crayons
