So my girls and I got to talking a few days ago over cocktails and the topic of cheating came up. We were talking about what each of us would consider cheating. So Id like to see what you girls think. What do you consider 'cheating' on a S.O.?
BTW, can you all tell Im BORED!

any form of touching AT ALL! and any serious conversation as well
Really???? Would you leave your man over that?
Believe it or not...yes...the reason being is I was dating my ex for 9 years and met my FH simultaneously...FH and I spent hours on the phone or in person talking and I told him more about me than my ex knew...of course when we grew closer(more than just talking )I knew it was cheating, but if I found out today that my FH was having personal conversations with a female who he had not known prior to me, then yes I think it is a small form of cheating...I would be hurt...am I the only one?

I think any intimate relationship with another woman, even if it never turns physical, is cheating.
if I were to become friends with any man and have an attraction for him i would have to end our friendship.
I would expect the same of my FH.
crazy, for sure, but sometimes i live in the dark ages
this is how I feel as well...you just said it in a better way thanks

i actually think that I'd consider cheating when he would have a relationship with another woman - even no kissing or nothing like that - just emotional -- would ruin me. Like if he had someone on the side, that just spent hours and hours confiding in, talking to - instead of me. I feel like it doesnt have to be sexual or actual cheating (kissing touching) to be considered cheating.. Because when you think about these two scenarios:
1- your FH/DH gets super drunk wherever and has a one night stand
vs
2- he has a long affair(lets say no sex) just talking, even typing over the stupid effin internet, meeting up for lunch ------------- in my opinion is 10000000000000000000000 times worse.
JMO
I was just going to type this exact answer . an emotional affair is just as damaging to a relationship . Id rather have senario 1... even though he would be done either way I con't think I could handle the emotional connection

do you mean like flirting and talking about hanging out? bc serious conversation can mean many things
I mean like too personal of a conversation...when you become emotionally attached to someone who is not your SO...even if it is just in conversation I think is a form of cheating...

'serious conversation'
what I mean is any sort of conversation that becomes serious enough to allow one of you to become emotionally involved

FH and I have discussed this. We are to be each others 1st consideration at all times. Everyone else, until there are children, is a far 2nd.

conversation no i wouldnt...well for me heres why and again this will explain what i mean by converstion. I had a great guy friend who i confided everything to...he had gf's he would talk to me about it, and vice versa. We were very close and i told him everything. We spent hours talking on the phone and being there for eachother, but it was a friendship and thats it. If you are falling for the person and its mutual feelings then that is different

I think people can flirt and never have the intentions of taking it further. I know people who are very flirty by nature who have S.O.'s but when we go out theyre all over the place flriting with everyone in sight! She doesnt consider it cheating and neither do we because we know how she is. Although maybe her boyfriend wouldnt like it too much.

I see what you mean...I just think that if you begin to reveal too much of yourself to someone else and it is stuff that you are not revealing to your SO, it could lead to other things....I guess just b/c that is what happened to me...but in my case, I am grateful b/c I met my FH

but this is also a case that you did something wrong and think if he had anything similar it would mean what it meant for you. Thats not the case though. So many ppl always tell me that guys and girls never can be JUST friends, ive had MANY in my life, so just bc somebody else always had something going on with a friend of the opposite sex doesnt mean i will. I wouldn't want somebody to tell me what i cant do bc of what they've done in their past...like if fh thinks guys and girls cant be friends bc hes had S*X with every female friend, and then turned around to tell me i cant have male friends bc he knows what happens then i'd be pissed bc thats how he would act in a situation and those are his experience but im not him and i handle things differently and do things differently

my above situation is a real life situation so thats why i said it...fh in his past had some close female friends those female friends about 9 out of 10 he fooled around with...bc of that he didnt think guys and girls could be friends and thought something would happen, and that it would always lead to something physical. I was the opposite and had male friends who were just friends and saw great friendships in those of the opposite sex. Well fh is not the type to tell me 'you better not do this' but you can tell he hated whenever i brought up a guy friend. Now he knows how i am and how i do things so he realizes I was JUST friends with these guys. He was putting on me what he did in his past, which wasn't fair to me

no that definitely would not be fair to do...lol...I did not realize you were actually speaking from this happening...i have several male friends who I grew up with who are still my friends...It may not make any sense at all, but I feel like if that friendship was established prior to your relationship, then for some reason in my eyes, it is more acceotable than if it begins after you are already in a serious relationship...this is a tough QOTD

funny but fh asked me last week if i thought looking at porn was cheating...him and his friends were watching something and this came up and they were discussing it hahaha
i would say kissing and well you know the rest
yeah porn watching doesn't count as cheating unless youre in the room watching the flick get recorded!
OR IN THE FLICK
You know how many married men and women are in porn? What about the bunny ranches in Vegas? There are married people!!!!!!!!! I don't get that at all!

Its a REALLY tough topic!! Like Denise said, it just matters to the person what they consider cheating because everyone is going to have a different opinion.

I focus more on the mindset behind cheating than the act itself, so depending on the situation, something as small as flirting could count as cheating for me and something bigger like a kiss doesn't necessarily have to count as cheating, so for me whether or not something is 'cheating' depends on the situation and the context in which it occurred...
