How do you ladies feel when people post their personal information on the boards?
I'm not talking about death in the family or new pets and such, but I mean things that are 'drama'-like?

I think sometimes people genuinely need help dealing with a specific situation. In that respect, this is a great medium to do that- you can speak freely without fear or embarrassment b/c with few exceptions, we don't know each other.
It's when you post SO much drama that your life appears unstable that it gets a little much (and a little hard to believe maybe )
I think it's a good thing, but it should not be abused. And also, think of yourself before you post. How much info do YOU want out there, for people to 'judge'.

I don't mind it, sometimes it is easier for people to vent to strangers, to get a honest opinion. I have postd some personal stuff about FI friends and family and then removed them when I realized a couple of girls that he knows are also planning weddings on LI.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
Well I try to keep things as general as I can. You never know who is lurking. What you will never see me post, is what I pay for major vendors. Once you start saying how much you spend on things, you leave yourself open as a target for judgement as well as robbery - YES robbery. People know how much you have to spend. That is why I never announced my engagement or wedding in a newspaper. That is why my family NEVER posted my father's passing in an obituary as well.
As far as personal things go, I agree with you. I needed and used the support of LIW when I lost my Dad. Thanks again because it helped more than you all know. But sometimes, it gets a little heavy here and we all end up aggravated and sometimes even concerned.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
There are NWR boards and I really think they are underutilized.
It seems like the wedding boards get ALL the venting. But its understandable b/c some people feel more comfortable in their '06' world.
I do think its very helpful to vent to strangers and get honest opinions but agree that it does go too far sometimes.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
Sometimes it is too much info personally- but if i feel that way i just move on and dont post- HOWEVER, i do think it is a place where people feel comfortable enough to share whats going on in their life because they may not be able to do it in their real life... OR they feel like they can get HONEST answers here because no one knows us... (basically)
SO i think it is ok and if there is something i thnk is just too much, i move on

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
Honestly I don't mind it because I usually don't pay it any attention, but it is sometimes annoying (there is a NWR board...)
But me personally, I would never post some things that people on here post... Pretty much, I have only posted regarding wedding related things...

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
You know something, after a while of posting on this board, I feel comfortable sharing some things with you girls that are not wedding related. However, I think I draw a line as to what I post...yeah, we all have drama going on in our lives, but just like I dont toot about it at work or to certain people, I wouldnt toot about it on public boards. But there are people that would tell you anything and everything about their lives whether its on a public forum board or in person...so, I guess its really up to us whether we want to respond or not...otherwise, if they want to post their personal drama issues let them do it...maybe they dont have anybody else to vent to...

I feel the same way.
And I must say, the word toot makes me laugh. It's what my aunt says when she farts.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
there are some things i would never post on here - just too personal. but i know i can count on liw to offer advice when i need it.
i just hate it when i see random drama over someone's bm issues. a lot of girls get mad if someone posts about wanting to get rid of a bm.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
I agree with what most of you are saying. This is a great forum to get a lot of honest opinions without any fear. We're all people who aren't really involved with each other, so it's a good outlet to vent to about personal things. BUT there are some people who seem to have drama in their lives every day and I think that's when it becomes too much.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
I guess it depends on the person. I am a fairly mild tempered, quiet, shy person. I don't really talk much. I do not like being the center of attention and I do not like airing dirty laundry. So I wouldn't do it here.
I find it very interesting (and sometimes bizarre) to see the amount of personal information people are willing to give up on here.
If you are ok with anyone and everyone reading about your personal biz, then posting their own opinion on it: then go on with yer bad self. But I think people forget how many people actually have access to these boards - you don't have to be a member to read our craziness.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
You mean I shouldn't post about my raging hemorroids???
JUST KIDDING!!!
Seriously, sometimes it gets to be a bit much, and I definitely wouldn't post about certain personal issues. But if someone else does it, it doesn't bother me or anything.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
For me it depends. IMHO, if one of us is having 'drama' with a BM or FH or whatever, the best feedback any of us will get is from a group of other women going through the same 'drama'. It is often easier to talk to 'strangers' than family. For example, my family hates my BIL. There is no way my sister would ever discuss any problem she is having because my mom would just and give her an 'I told you so' (truth be told, I probably would to). This forum is perfect for her to vent, but not hear 'so why did you marry him, or you shouldn't have married him etc'.
Yes, there are girls who jump to judgment, but it doesn't matter whether you discuss a problem on the boards or with family &/or friends, there will always be someone quick to judgment.
Also, if I feel I am reading something which is 'too' personal, I stop reading and move on to the next post.
