How do you ladies feel when people post their personal information on the boards?
I'm not talking about death in the family or new pets and such, but I mean things that are 'drama'-like?

It's when you post SO much drama that your life appears unstable that it gets a little much (and a little hard to believe maybe )
I think it's a good thing, but it should not be abused. And also, think of yourself before you post. How much info do YOU want out there, for people to 'judge'.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
Once you start saying how much you spend on things, you leave yourself open as a target for judgement as well as robbery - YES robbery. People know how much you have to spend.
i must be naive too, how does it leave you open for robbery if nobody here knows your last name/address/phone #? the robber would then have to go to the 'whos paying for your wedding' post to find out who to rob, you or your parents or fi parents...right? i must be missing something. i do post what i am paying for vendors bc posts like that were extremely helpful to me when i was first booking vendors. ~lacey

It is VERY easy to find out someone's last name. If I were to say how, then Id be somewhat of an accessory to a crime. There are some very computer savvy men and women who lurk on these boards. These are the same people who have scared half the brides here into removing their vendors from their profiles for fear that someone will cancel these vendors.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
I was thinking about this today and I hope hope hope that my answer does not offend anyone, but I get alittle weirded out when I read about some of the 'personal' drama. I usually stop reading because I feel like it's sort of like a car wreck (you can't turn away). I guess I just feel like...well, I have friends for that kind of stuff. This website is really a place for me to inquire and sometimes vent about wedding planning and stuff that my family is sort of sick of hearing. I guess it can be considered a anonymous confessional, but it isn't really that anonymous and well...I'm just not able to put what I am trying to say into words that make sense...I think. Does anyone get what I am saying?

well if someone is savy enough to find out my last name, i hope they are savy enough to find out how poor i am. otherwise i'm in trouble! i've thought about the vendor removal thing, but all of my contracts are super binding and would not be able to be canceled with a phone call-i hope!

I never would have thought of this. Thanks for making me aware of these people, so at least now I know.

I don't like the NWR stuff on these boards-it's no biggie, I just skip them but if it's not wedding related, it's too much info in my opinion. That said-I don't mind any of the wedding related drama, that I find interesting though not necessarily applicable. I think this board is for sharing all wedding related info-prices, vendor opinions, wedding related family issues, etc.
This place is unique, silly, compassionate, intelligient, and sweet. I love LIW..good, bad, ugly.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
I post some NWR stuff but never go into much detail about what goes on the more personal level.
There have been some drama-related posts that had me think 'wow, I can't believe they posted that' but I guess that I agree with most when they say that they were looking for some unbiased advice from people that don't really know them.

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
I've posted a few personal things on here, but technically, I don't give a crap. Most of the time when I do, it's wedding related and I am usually asking questions of people who might be in the same boat as I am. (Like my concern about my FH and casinos on our HM for example!)
Some people feel it's better to post here when they need to vent then to their friends and family who they feel might not understand or might not want to hear it.
I don't have many friends I can vent to since I moved out here. I have a lot of acquaintances, but not a lot of friends, thus the reason sometimes I vent here. After all, FH can only hear so much!!!

To each their own. I personally choose not to air all my personal details but to others the website may serve a purpose and help them in their time of need.
Just with anything, you can choose to be involved and read it or you can opt to ignore it. There are plenty of posts on this website related to weddings that you are not forced to read about someone's personal drama.....

You know something, after a while of posting on this board, I feel comfortable sharing some things with you girls that are not wedding related. However, I think I draw a line as to what I post...yeah, we all have drama going on in our lives, but just like I dont toot about it at work or to certain people, I wouldnt toot about it on public boards. But there are people that would tell you anything and everything about their lives whether its on a public forum board or in person...so, I guess its really up to us whether we want to respond or not...otherwise, if they want to post their personal drama issues let them do it...maybe they dont have anybody else to vent to...
I completely agree

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
Okay, well in the past I have posted a few personal things about myself. But really I don't care. Thats just how I am. I am a pretty open book. If I posted something I shouldn't have (witch I've done once) it was just because I was so upset. I am emotional. But there have been post that I've made for real true advice like when gm said i was 'nothing specail' I really didn't know how to feel... sometimes I'm not sure if I'm over reacting, and the thought of even saying that out loud to anyone made me cringe. and if I can't vent about FMIL here, then where else can I? Oh well, no one is forced to read my post, you know?

I am at the same place you are, there are just some things I cant tell the people in my life...so I post it here, and it might have been uncalled for, but I had to get it out somehow

Re: QOTD: How Much is Too Much?
ALSO....
I mean you post your pic... you post your location, date and time. You go to GTG. You post where you bought your dress and when your going for your first fitting. You post if you would want fh to sign a prenup because your loaded or he is or your both paupers. If someone wanted to assault ANYONE on this sight, most of us have already given them EVERYTHING they need.
(when I say you, I am not specifically talking about anyone.... Just everyone in general)
