I would have loved to be on the dock when my great-grandparents were finally cleared through Ellis Island and allowed to come into America!! What a day that must have been!!

I just would have liked to meet my Uncle Dave....he died before I was born, but from what I hear, he was a great person.

i would have loved to been a fly on the wall to see the mass confusion, chaos and excitement that resulted from my birth. My mother didn't know she was having a baby until 20 minutes before she had me.

I'll let this sink in for a minute, ask me any questions.

ok

my mother was 40, her and my dad were married for three years and were TTC for a long time to no avail. She had practically given up all hope. She was never 'regular' so she wouldn't have noticed a missed cycle. Plus, she went to the doctor because she was gaining weight. He checked her out and repeatedly told her that she was not pregnant. This was the 1970's, modern technology didn't exist yet.

On April 24th, 1976, she woke up and as the day progressed, she began to experience unbearable pain. She went to the same doctor and he told she was having a baby. She asked, when? And he replied, now!!

about an hour later, I was born.

Since he was a family friend and I turned out OK, my family didn't sue the doctor for malpractice.

Funny enough, he received an award for medical excellence 12 days before I was born.

Don that's crazy! Modern technology or not, the doc should have figured it out a little sooner before you were born.

For me there is this legendary story about a family wedding from probably 50 years ago. There was this HUGE fight between both families. Tables turned, ambulances & policemen, the whole nine. My grandfather ended up with a broken arm and my father was lost in brooklyn for 3 days (my grandfather through him in a cab with $5 when the police showed up...LOL) I know there's so much more and would love to see for myself

I don't know......I guess meet my mother's parents..and my father's father. They all died before I was born. And my mother's aunt who raised her and her two sisters. And.....my cousin Tommy Ray who also died before I was born. He had leukemia and died when he was 17. His younger brother wasnt even born yet.

I think I'd also like to see what my parents were like when they were first married and no children. I heard they threw great parties! LOL

you're telling me, it's a miracle i'm here

no prep, no sonogram, no lamas classes

it was great at the wedding, my mother found a song by roger whittaker, titled, 'you are my miracle' and that was what we danced to.

you're telling me -- i always said they should have sued, but he was a close family friend, i turned out OK, and this would have put him out of business and they didn't have the heart to do it. If something had been wrong with me, that would have been different

Wow, that's really a tough question. And a good one.

My first thought was Ellis Island, but my grandparents came at different times.

Or my Dad's return from Viet Nam.

Don- that's crazy! MY friend is a twin & the doctors swore it was just 1 baby, but the mother new better & they didn't beleive her & untill ( via c-section) they took the first baby out, & they saw there was a second one!

I think that is more common though.

And my friend's cousin was 6 months pregnant before she knew, but man. . your story takes the cake!

What hospital were you born in? I was born 2 days before you!

My grandmother getting married in London during the second blitz.

Her wedding pictures were taken on the Westminster Bridge and had the River Thames and waterfront buildings burning in the background. Unfortunately, her pictures and many other family heirlooms were destroyed when they left London
