QOTD II (WR) - Do you believe that FI is your one true love?

This is first of a two part question inspired by a convo FI and I had the other night. So I want to see the answers for this one and then I will spring part II on you all. I DO believe that there is a fated person for each person.

I believe that we are all meant to end up with one person.. I know that FH is that person because I still like him after being together for two and a half years.. we complete each other, we have the same goals and aspirations for our life.. It just fits. It never fit with anyone else-- and basically, before him-- everyone I dated, ended up making my skin crawl-- they got really annoying after a while. It was very easy to figure out when someone needed to GO!

I am definately not the Romantic type, by any means, and do not believe in Soal Mate. Having said that, I don't really know if my FI is the 'one true love'. I know I think he is, I feel he is - other wise I wouldn't be getting married - but I just don't know.
Because I don't belive in Soal Mates, I belive that there are people that are MORE right for you than others. Everyone has good and bad in them, and the one that has more good than bad for you is what defines the true love. However, with that theory, there could always be out there, one that could be EVEN better for you. FI definately completes me, its cliche but true, since he really makes me a better person. For me, that is what I am looking for, and thus, is the one for me.
Its quiet a depressing view, I know, but that is how I feel.

Yes, I believe we are meant to be together. When I look at the past and the decisions I made, each one took me a step closer to him. If I had made even one decision differently, it is very likely we wouldn't even have met.
Or maybe you would have met, just at another time and place....
eta: FH and I have tracked our pasts and have nearly 'met' several times - one summer we were both in the same exact place in Ocean City, he would have been 9, I was 2. Three years ago, he was very close to getting a part in a show that my X was in - we would have met then. We both went to opening nights of big movies at the same theaters - we did not meet then. Had we met, it would not have been the right time.
This is one of my favorite things to think about...our paths have come so close so many times. But we were not ready for one another until 2 years ago. I love the thought of that....
Bunny, that could be possible too! I love your story and how when it was just right for you guys, it happened. When I met FH, I was dating someone else. We were casual friends, and didn't get together for a while. I really think it was the 'right' time to get together when we did.

Of course he is my one true love otherwise I would never want to marry him. I have been in love before, or at least I thought I was but this was different!
Our paths have crossed before too. We used to go to the same mall every weekend with our friends growing up and we grew up 5 minutes from each other!
I also believe in fate since I met my FH online. I bought the computer in 1999 to communicate with my then-long distance boyfriend!

I feel like we're definitely meant for each other. Whether we're soul mates or not, I can't really say but I love him with my entire heart and would do anything for him. If he's not my soul mate then he's definitely my angel

Definately- I am such a quirky person I can't imagine anyone else 'getting'me. I have had several long term relationships but I never felt comfortable with them all the time. I always feel content with my man, even when I am struggling personally. I can't describe it any other way.

I definitely feel that FH is the one I am meant to spend the rest of my life with. We complete each other so well, in so many ways. I can't even remember a time when he wasn't in my life even though I know there was a time when he wasn't. He is the greatest love I've know.

i really had never thought about it until recently.. i guess that happens once you get engaged. but FH and i just met in such weird ways that there had to be fate somehow involved. if either one of us had done even one thing differently years ago we would have never met, and its just weird when you think about it like that. plus we're too similar. it's like we're somehow connected.. i dont get it, i'm not gonna try to explain it.

Yes, I believe that FI is my soul mate and I know he feels the same way. The weird thing is it took us 3 1/2 years of working at the same office (him off and on) for me to even notice him. He noticed me on the first day I started working there.
He was just coming out of a 7 year relationship, hated women in general and never wanted to even see a woman again - but he noticed me right away and liked me from that first moment.
I trust him completely and and can finish his sentences and even predict what he will do in 99% of situations. It's so funny when he notices it too and he's like 'how did you know I'd do that' or 'how did you know I'd say that' and I tell him 'Well, I am going to marry you so I have to be able to predict these things.'
The interesting part about it is that I dated so many jerks in that 3 1/2 years that I know if he approached me at any other time I would have probably blown him off.
When I think about his 7 year relationship - (which ended almost 4 1/2 years ago) I'm amazed that this woman never even knew him in all that time.
He has this belt that we were just talking about this morning that has 'Paris' Milano' 'Roma' and some other cities on it. He bought it years ago and his ex, nicknamed Paris, said he bought that belt since her name is on it. I didn't even have to ask since I know that is totally not why he bought it. It takes him FOREVER to pick out clothes that he likes so I know he bought that belt because he saw it in some random store on his way to work and just liked it.
He's just my best friend. It's so strange to me since I have been in relationships before and thought I was in love but it was NEVER like this.

YES. i do.
i totally believe me and FH were meant to be together. he was my first puppy love.. then we went our separate ways..... (not our choice... my parents found out) then ended up seeing one another again... and broke up again... (certain things needed to change) then we fell back together and have been ever since... we realllly belive we were meant to be.
even in hte beginning when we were hiding and stuff he would say to me, 'if anything happens, if its meant to be... it will happen'
and it did!

Ok. I don't believe in soul mates either but I do believe in fate. I believe god has a plan and we are mearly passangers in his ride. I think every one is put in someone lives for that moment in time for a reason. I had a friend who dated a man that she really loved but was obviously 'not for her', well he came down with cancer and she was there for him and helped and supported him, later they parted nicely becuase they were not supposed to be together but I believe god placed Kim in Pauls life for that moment in time for a reason. That I how I explain how I was madly in love with my ex. He taught me so much (not all good mine you) and I will always have a place for him in my heart. I believe that there may have been any number of men that I was could have married but for some reason God put Stephen in my life right now. I love him and can't wait to spend forever with him. But does that mean that it couldn't have been someone else? I don't think so. What if something tragic happens and one of us passes on.... Will we never love agian because we already met our soul mate?
OK Now I am offically sad.... I love my FH soooo much and I hope nothing ever comes between us or forces us to find someone else but I don't really believe in soul mates...just fate. Things always happen for a reason.

No, I do not think that JT is my one true love. I have been in love before and although it did not work out, I still think it was love. But I definitely have a better, more mature, more unconditional love for JT than for anyone else I've ever loved, and it's a healthier relationship than any other one I've ever had. Not that I had bad relationships, but this one is balanced and caring and able to evolve over time, as we've seen over the last four years. My other relationships where I loved the person served a particular purpose, but did not mature with me. Did that all make sense? So no, he's not my ONE TRUE LOVE, but he is the one that I want to love from now until forever.

i couldn't have said it better! i've definitely experienced true love before fh, but those relationships were not destined to be forever, for one reason or another. fh is the person i am prepared to love for the rest of my life, and our relationship is the closest to ideal that i could imagine! but no, he is not my 'one true love'...

ok- yes and no. FH and I really did fall in love at first sight- but honestly I wonder if there is more than one person out there for you. It's a really big world you know!
