QOTD l 10/19/13

What a crazy morning. Feeling sad to read about people that feel like friends going through a difficult time. You ladies are all wonderful and I'm happy to be a part of knowing you all during this time.

How has planning impacted your relationships with family and friends?

I've been surprised about who has stepped up and been really excited for us. I've also been disappointed times that people haven't been on board or have been upset about our choices. Right now FH's grandparents are saying they aren't coming to RH after church and FH is heartbroken. they are unhappy with no kids at the reception. Planning has forced me, in a good way, to talk to others about how important they are or things that are important in this process. I can't say I love wedding planning. But I am really loving how supportive out friends and family (for the most part) have been and how generous they have been with their time and energy.

Have a beautiful day. Today is my 10 year high school reunion. Unreal!

Luckily it hasn't really impacted any relationships in a bad way. Everyone is pretty excited for us about the planning process, so that's nice. I hope that doesn't change as the date gets closer.

I have to say that I feel the same as coffeeisgreen. I haven't had any relationships that have been negatively affected. I have seen the more opinionated side of certain people come out, but it doesn't make me think of them any differently because FH and I are going to do things the way we want regardless of what others think. I think that for the most part, it has actually brought us closer together.

I don't think that relationships have been negatively affected... but it has shown me how certain relationships have changed over time in general.

I think that now ... with a certain friend in particular.. that its MY turn... for her to be there for me... she can't hack it. We were best friends for years and I was there every major life event.. the birth of her first child, her wedding, her father passing... everything... I was always there for her.

Now that its HER turn to be there for me.. she's not. She doesn't call me. She doesn't ask me about wedding plans. Its kind of upsetting AND I had already asked her to be a bridesmaid before things got as bad as they have gotten because I just always figured she was going to be there.

Its hard to explain exactly what I'm feeling with it all.. but its almost like one of those amicable break ups. I just miss my friend. Like.. FH hasn't even met HER hubby or her kids. Not without me trying either. Its frustrating. and sad.

Luckily, I have my other girlfriends to help and I'm actually surprised to see who has 'stepped up' and who is genuinely excited for us... and I love them for it.

Thankfully, I haven't had any negative impact on any of my relationships from the wedding planning. But, I also haven't really asked anyone to help with anything. My mom is my rock and she has always helped me with everything and anything. And she's done just about everything with me for the wedding. I couldn't ask for more support than that. My MOH has started to get involved and she's joined my gym so we can motivate each other to workout. I really appreciated that!
