****QOTD- Monday 1/11*****

First, thank you Meredith for making me BOTW!!!!! I'm going to ask Monday's question now, because I'm not sure if I can do it early tomorrow.

Since there have been some posts about living together, I figured my first question would be about that.

Many people say that when you first move in, you get into more fights since it's an adjustment. For those who already live with FH, how did that adjustment go? What was the hardest part? Did you fight more or was the transition smooth? What was the best part?

For those who don't live with FH, what do you think the hardest part will be? How do you think the transition will go? What part of living together are you most excited for?

For us, the transition was pretty smooth. We moved in after being together for 7 months so we were still in the honeymoon stage, so maybe that helped. I love being able to come home to him every day, sleep with him every night, and wake up to him every morning. I love cooking him dinner, and that we are making a home together and are a team. We both were soooo excited when we first moved in that I don't think we fought more. I liked learning more about him and his daily habits.

I moved into FH's house about a year and a half ago (actually, a few days after we got engaged!). It was a BIG adjustment because when we were dating, I would only sleep over on weekends.

The hardest part was sharing a bed together. I am used to hogging the bed all by myself and spreading out. FH tends to be the same, so we had to adjust to each other's sleeping styles and positions!! Also, I'm a night person and FH is a morning person. My bedtime is around midnight while he tries to be in bed by 9-10 pm. The other hard part was getting used to delegating chores like cooking and cleaning. Daily living was a challenge but now we worked out a system based on our work schedules that turned out fine..

Currently, we don't live together-we'll be moving in once we get married

I think one of the biggest adjustments will be sharing a bed-we're going to get a bigger bed so it should be ok, bc we've always slept together in a twin or a double..so a queen will be a bit more room

i also think that we're going to have to learn to deal with the fact that im so neat, i swear its border line ocd..and hes nottttt like that at all..but he's also used to his mom doing a lot of stuff for him, so it will prob. just be me doing a lot of stuff for him.

FH is used to his mom doing a lot of stuff....and i am not the neatest person. i am sure it will take time for us to adjust!!!....which is why finding a space that has room and closets is KEY!

FH moved into my apartment. It was a little rough at first because he was very 'mommyed' at home. He never had to do any cleaning, and he thought he could get away with the same stuff here. Now, he cooks and cleans! Besides that the transition went very smoothly.

I've lived on my own for 5+ years; FH for about 4 years.

We'll be moving in together after we're married

I know that we're going to work out a lot of issues with my inability to be organized. Don't get me wrong, the things I care about are organized, but I randomly leave magazines all over the place and tend to leave my clothes in a pile on the floor. He, on the other hand, is meticulous with almost everything!

I'm excited to be cooking for two - and not doing that because I want leftovers for the next day! Also excited to be coming home to him (or vice-versa, depending on the workday) and not to an empty apartment. We're currently doing some big projects to fix up his place, as it's an apartment in a house that he owns with his parents, so we can kind of do whatever we want in there. We just spent the whole weekend painting his bedroom, closet and half bath because we'd rather tackle those projects now, before I move in with some of my stuff. We work as a team all the time and kind of balance out each other's personalitiy.

I can't wait to live with him

fh and i moved in together almost 3 years ago after several years of dating. I think overall the transition went really smoothly. We had a few minor arguments about stupid stuff like hanging up his towels or me leaving the closets open etc. but we never really got into any big fights.

we never really decided hey lets move it... it was gradual so there wasnt any real transition period

We moved in after dating for 2.5 months so I don't think I've noticed a difference. The only fights I think we had were about food. He really doesn't eat leftovers, while I grew up on parents cooking for the week.
Other than that it was nice overall. We were used to 'living together' as we stayed over each others' house all the time.
My fav part is going home to FH, and spending every free min together, whereas before the commute was really long.
I love the evenings when we cook together, well FH cooks and I help.
I def liked the living together way more than not even after such a short dating period.

I'd say our transition went pretty smooth. We were both so excited to be moving out of our parent's houses that we weren't concerned with the adjustment of living together. I think it also helped, that at the time, his job required him to travel a lot, so we still spent a lot of time apart. Distance certainly does make the heart grow fonder, at least in our case.

our transition was super smooth. we were still in that 'honeymoon' phase when we moved in so i think that helped.
the hardest part was adjusting to the amount of stuff FH has. you would think he was a girl. he saves everything!!

Luckily-and so far- our transition has been really smooth! We moved in together last June after being together 11 months. We both expected to wait muuuch longer but in the end it was actually his idea. At that point I spent probably 4-5 nights a week at his place and it was getting ridiculous. I had a key, we had a dog together, it was just the right time! We occasionally argue about who cleans more (not gonna lie-he does lol!) But the biggest adjustment for us was just that we go to sleep at different times, and we have worked out a routine by now that works for us! FH was so excited for me to move in because it meant he didnt have to walk the dog 3 times a day every day, I would share it with him!

Great question Jackie!!

ETA: I forgot to add - the hardest thing for us isnt each other, its the space. I moved into his apartment and it just is NOT big enough for the 2 of us, a dog and all our stuff! We have one closet in the entire apartment! Can't wait to move in 6 weeks!!

FH and I have basicaly been living together at my Mom's house the past 3 years. It is kinda strange though bc it isn't 'OUR' place. I think we will transition well though. We already have 99% of the furniture we need so getting all that won't be a big hassel. I imagine the other things to be difficult.. like who is going to do the dishes... bc I LOATH doing the dishes... I'll do anything but them

great question! We moved in together about a year ago, right after we got engaged and had been dating about a year. I wanted to wait for the ring to make that move. We found a great apartment together. Overall it's been great. We share the cooking and cleaning. He does way more laundry than I do, but I scrub things clean more. We have a full size bed and sometimes I wish it was a queen but he works two nights a week and I work one night so I get the bed all to myself then anyway! It is so wonderful to see him when we can, because we work such insane schedules, if we get an hour together we can enjoy it!

Also, it will make the transition to being 'married' a cinch! Oh and someone else mentioned this too... FH doesn't really eat leftovers unless I mention it. lol

We moved in together after about 3 months or so of dating and I have to say, things went smooth and continue to go smoothly.

FH and I do not live together and do not intend on doing so until after the wedding. I think the transition will be hardest for me because I am very much a loner and just like my space. FH is quite the opposite, he loves to be around me ALL of the time and loves to cuddle and chit chat and etc. I like that sometimes, lol, but not ALL the time...

...I was deprived of affection as a child

FH and I don't live together right now but we will come the summer.

I'm an only child and really ever had to share anything! I'm not talking about being spoiled but physically sharing thing (time in the bathroom primarily). So that will be interesting. I also don't cook so the first few months should be interesting!

Congrats Jackie! The transition was pretty bad for FH and I because we had bought a fixer upper house and moved in together at the same time. The stress of having people constantly working in the house, not to mention the clutter of our belongings and also the supplies we needed for the house, it was just a couple of months of stress. Then you add all that to the mix of adjusting to living with each other, ughhh. It was all worth it though because I love loving with him now, and sleeping next to him, and waking up with him. It was definitely worth the stress!

We moved in together about a yr and a half ago it was very smooth. It just seemed natural, there really was not much adjusting except when he wanted to go out with the guys on friday nights....im not used to staying home alone (I used to stay at home if he wanted to go out)
