It's not so much as fighthing as its strong discussion. I know FH is right, but the decision is still a difficult one for me. Right now we live in Manhattan and our rent is out of control expensive. He would like to move to Queens so we can get a bigger, nicer place for less rent. I totally agree, but its going to be really hard for me to move out of the city. All of my friends live right near me in like a 6 block radius, I'll miss having them close. Plus, I'll miss having the convenience of going out in the city and coming home to my apt in the city. Its harder to get out to Queens at 2AM!

We don't really talk about it all that much, but actually sort of have a plan. Fh made the big step of moving from NJ (basically PA as it's the next exit) to LI to be with me (a year ago). I'm in school and I couldn't move, so he had to. It took him about 9 months to find a job out here and in those 9 months he commuted back and fourth to NJ for work. I graduate in Dec 2008 and had originally been planning on looking for work in the tri-state area (NY, NJ and CT). However, now that Fh just started a new job here I don't feel it's right for me to make him move and find a new job all over again in a year. So I will do my best to find a job on LI or in the city and we'll stay in our apartment for a year or two to save money. Then, depending on job status we'll discuss where we want to look but I don't think it will be anywhere out of the tri-state area.

Actually this is something that isn't a problem for both of us. We plan to stay on Long Island in Suffolk.

we dont really talk about it that much. we'll have to see if we can afford to live on li after we're married, if not then maybe we'll have to look at NC or FL but I would like to stay on li if we could.

Yeah, we fight about it every time it comes up. He moved out here to Oregon to be with me 2 1/2 years ago. Since Im in school out here, I couldn't move. But now with about a year and a half to go, Im getting really tired of being out here so far away from all our family and friends and I want to move back east. Not necessarily to NY, but at least back east. But now FH LOVES it out here, has an amazing job doing what he loves and doesn't want to move back His family is back in NY too, but it doesn't seem to bother him much. We still have time, but I know its going to be a major point of contention for us until we make a decision

Re: QOTD - Monday
We used to have fights about it, but not anymore.
Part of the problem that we always ran into is that I work in the city and he works in Hauppauge. When I lived in the city, it was great for me, but there was no way he would consider that because his commute would be to far. Then he came up with the idea of getting a place in Shirley. NO WAY was I commuting to the city from Shirley!
Right now we're kind of looking where my parents are here in Farmingdale. The commutes aren't that bad for the both of us and all of our friends live in the area.
My brother moved to Raleigh a few years ago. He loves it there and there's a part of me that would really like a little more laid-back lifestyle. But we'll see....I think I would miss NYC too much!

No, we don't fight about this. Fh & I both want to live in either NYC or Westchester to be closer to my job.

Re: QOTD - Monday
We fight about the right time to buy a house. We live in his dad's house which was a one family but has been turned into a two family - one apartment for his brother and one apartment for us. I have to say, my apartment is gorgeous. I have huge closets in own bedroom, a big linen closet in the bathroom, a large separate dining room, and a living room that could easily fit ten to fifteen people comfortably. While I love it, it is not our house. He says we should live here as long as possibly, I'm eager to buy our own house. His father has mentioned selling it to us after the wedding for 'a good price' but houses around here go for $700,000-800,000 and we wonder what a 'good' price is to him!

Re: QOTD - Monday
we don't argue about it, but we def go back and forth on our plans. i'm not sure either of us are willing to make the kinds of sacrifices that are necessary to commit ourselves to a mortgage here, but as a teacher, it doesn't necessarily pay to leave either. we basically just talk about it and continue to pay our rent, which is equivalent to taxes & utilities for most houses.
