I'm sure we all probably have the one special person who has passed in our lives who we think, 'I wish s/he could be at my special day' So, my question for today is...... Are you incorporating the memory of a loved one into your special day? And if so, how?

Re: ***QOTD Saturday, March 5***
I have been very fortunate and have had NO one pass away in my family that was close. Distance third cousin but no one else. I have both set of grandparents; one set is 90plus and the other is 80plus. I just hope nothing happens to them in the next year!!
FH had his mother taken away from him when he was three; 2 years ago his grandmother was taken away, his uncle and 1 year ago his grandfather. He has not mention anything but I would like to have donation thing for his mother, she had diabetes and dy during a kidney transplant because of it.

Sorry that my QOTD is a little sad today! Its the anniversary of my grandfather and I'm just thinking about him a lot today and missing him a lot! We were very close and he passed wayyyy to young. I plan on getting a charm with a picture of him and attaching it to my bouquet. I also will include some pictures of my grandfather and I in my photo montage at the wedding.

FH's grandma just passed last month and we are going to do a memorial candle during the ceremony. My aunt who was like my grandma died from complications brought on by diabetes so we are going to do our donations in honor of her and my uncle who took care of her who also passed away 4 years ago.

My FH lost his mom when he was around 15....and my grandfather is VERY sick....i keep hoping and praying that he will be around in 3 years, but i really don't know. We plan to do donation favors to the american cancer society in honor of his mom...and give navy blue lovestrong bracelets too (the color for colon caner).
Well probably have pictures on a memorial table too, ive seen that done and it was beautiful.

My grandmother died when I was 7 and I just lost both of my grandfathers last year. I also lost two very close friends last year. I plan on putting the names in the programs and I'm making a placecard for one of my best friends who passed.

I plan on having a memorial table for my grandfather. I want to get a candle and pictures of him and I. I was also thinking of finding a charm to put on my bouquet. I lived with my grandparents for a long time, so it was very hard for me when he passed.
FH's grandma passed away about 2 weeks ago so I would like to get pictures of him and grandma for the memorial table as well.

I am going to do a donation for diabetes in honor of my mother. At her funeral the florist did extra doves in all of her specific arrangements for her so those are kind of a symbol we have. I'm thikning about doing something with the donation incorporating that....no idea what. I am also thinking about teh father daughter dance to one of her favorite songs (my parents had a civil ceremony -very low key- no wedding song) I'm just worried that the song is too lovey for a father/daughter dance so I might have to have the DJ announce it so that it doesnt look pervy.

My grandpa passed away in Dec 2009 so he will be acknowledged. FH's brother passed away at 21 yrs old & died 11 yrs ago and we def want to acknowledge him too! I would like to do a memorial table at the RH but we haven't decided what we are doing yet.
Hopefully we wont need to add anyone else to our memorial table as our wedding gets closer

Why don't you do a dove release outside of the church after your mass? I just read about that the florist put extra doves on her arrangement so I though it's a cute way to connect the two...

I am incorporating my great grandmother..we were very close and I SO wish she could be there with me. We are doing a memorial candle for her (and all other deceased grandparents of me and FH) and we are including a little in memory of poem in our programs at the church. I think we are also going to use her wedding Bible during the mass b/c she gave it to me at my Communion and I think it will be a nice touch
ETA: not doing full mass but will have some readings...

Re: ***QOTD Saturday, March 5***
It's so ironic that you asked this yesterday. Today is the two year anniversary's death of FH's mother. She died very abruptly from lung cancer, we were both at the hospital when she passed. :(
We are going to get a memory candle for her, but it will be a clear vase inscribed and filled with water with a floating candle. Afterwards we are going to give it to his father to use as a vase and put flowers in every year on the anniversary.
Hugs and prayers to all you girls who are also missing special people in their lives for their big day.
