good morning ladies!

well, i think the date says it all. i can't believe it's been 9 years. i know it's a day that i'll never forget.

where were you when the towers were hit and/or you heard the news? what was your first reaction? how has this tragedy impacted your life?

i'm off to some wedding appointments and school, but let us not forget those who lost their lives on 9/11. thank you to all of the police officers, firefighters and troops for doing everything they can to keep us safe <3

I was a block away that morning and was underneath the towers when the 2nd plane hit and debris flew over my head. I will NEVER forget what I saw and heard that day....and then finding out that loved ones were lost.

Everybody take a moment today to tell everyone you love that you love them and hug them a little tighter today

I has in 9th grade history class.. sitting in class when they made an announcement and we were all set home..

Four years later I moved to John street (which is literally one block from the towers). Everyday when I walked to class I thought about the loss our nation faced as I looked at the empty closed off space.

I was in lunch at High school It was the beginning of the 11th grade. Everyone kept talking about it it was so crazy i remember it like yesterday. My next class took us into to chemistry room to put it on the TV and we were watching it I was just in SHOCK I couldnt believe that was happening. When I got home from school I found out my dad was going to the city to help out he is a volunteer fire fighter. I was freaking out and crying cause I was so scared. My Dad actually was part of the human chain that pulled out the last survivor. A year later we were looking threw a 9/11 book and there was dad holding a fire hose we couldn't believe it.

I just posted a similiar topic.

I remember that I was in tenth grade walking into my fourth period World History class. As we were walking in, our teacher was standing at the door with this look of panic on her face and as we sat down she filled us in. At that momemt, I'm not sure if I knew the extreme effect that this was going to have on our country. However, when they let us out of school early and I watched the news over and over again, I understood that we would never forget this day.

I was on my way back from canada to University at Buffalo to get my stuff for International Politics class. When i saw it on tv though it was a movie until i got to class and it was on the huge projector screen there and the teacher said anyone from nyc/ long island go home and you are excused from class today. Then I found out what happened. My friends were stuck on the other side of the border not able to reenter the USA and they werent told what happened to later.

I was supposed to fly out the next day because ex-H was graduating boot camp. I knew deep down in my gut, even weeks before, that I wasn't going to Texas, but I had absolutely no clue why I would feel that way. Needless to say when I heard the radio that morning and then watched live as the 2nd plane hit, that that feeling in my gut was right.

I just remember driving down the expressway on my way to campus for my first semester of college, seeing the signs reserving the HOV and left lanes for emergency vehicles, looking at any and every person standing/driving/walking next to you, and having the same expression on our face.

It's something I'll never forget.

I was in my 11th grade photography class. I remember the teacher putting on the TV in the classroom, and everybody just being so shocked. I remember alot of kids crying in the halls, and teachers trying to console them. Alot of kids parents or other family members came to the school and took them out early because they had a family member that worked in the city. I could never forget the feelings that I had that day, it felt like the world just stopped.

I was a senior in high school. A lot of people commute into the city from where I live and because of that the school was afraid to tell us what was going on. We heard bits and pieces of rumors, but no one was sure. I knew something was horribly wrong when I got to my EMT class at the end of the day and my instructors weren't there. They were in the city. My class was at the top of the high school overlooking the water. We all just sat there staring at the smoke that was coming from the city. At the end of the day they made an announcement that said 'If you're parents don't come home, come back to the HS,' and that was it. I still get chills thinking about it.

When my mom picked me up, she told me they hadn't heard from my brother, who was coincidentally in one of the WTC buildings for a meeting. He talked about it once- he ran for his life and walked several woman home over the brooklyn bridge. He has never mentioned it again.

My heart goes out to all who have lost a loved one.

I was getting ready for a class at American University in Washington DC. I heard my suite mates go 'HOLY ....!' as my phone was ringing (it was my mother to let me know what was happening) and went in and saw the plane fly into the first tower. Saw the second plane and then I had to leave for class.

I went to class and they cancelled all the remaining classes as the pentagon was then hit. Thank god for the internet (AIM) b/c my college boyfriend was able to contact my family for me once all the phone lines were shut down in both cities.

I'll never forget my drive back to NY the next day as we went around the tip of Brooklyn on the BQE and saw all the NYers hanging over the edge in silence with american flags - bone chilling.

It was my third day of student teaching. My cooperating teacher and I heard about it from the TV that was in the faculty room. She looked at me and said, 'Well, we teach next period. In every teacher's life there will be tragedy...I think you should get up and tell the students what we know.' It turns out that we had a student who was the oldest of 8 kids...his dad was one of the firefighters that was killed that day.

In the weeks after, I saw the kids come together and raise money and put together baskets...at that point I knew why I chose teaching as a profession...

I was going to refrain from answering this question. It brings up some seriously bad memories and since the attack seems to bring out some of the worst attributes of people as well. But also i remember how so many people were so nice to each other after. There was a kindness i hadnt seen between strangers since I was a kid.

I was driving to work when the 1st plane hit. After i realized it wasnt a cruel joke i finally got a hold of my father who was a block away and obvlious of what was happening. So began the terror of getting my dad home from nyc unharmed. And also began the list of people missing and later dead that i knew.

I think as nyers we feel this differently that people not from here. We're angry this happened to us in our backyard.

But i wont lie. Since that day, ive learned that people have the ability to open their hearts to a stranger and theyre also just as quick to accuse, lie and use someone else's pain to fulfill their own agenda and hatred. :(

I was 4 blocks away, first day of college classes.

I felt the ground shake when the first plane hit, but all we saw was fire from the 1st building.

We stood watching what we thought was a fire at the WTC and then of course the 2nd plane hit.

I was absolutely horrified and frightened. I remember hearing so many people around me, calling out names of people who worked at the towers when the 2nd plane hit. My heart was breaking.

The school actually made us all go and SIT in class, with a lecture!!!! they called off class just minutes before the first tower went down.

It was probably one of the saddest and scariest days of my life.

I will never forget that day. I get chills every time I think or speak of it. So many innocent people lost and so many brave people fighting for us.

I was a sophmore in college in Plattsburgh and was sitting in my dorm room studying and my phone rang, and all I heard was my cousin screaming omg turn on the television the twin towers are gone, so I said yeah right, so I turned on the television, and could not believe my eyes. What was really messed up is that Plattburgh State refused to end classes even after the governer declared that all schools be closed (Especially since we were so close to the Canadian border). So, I had to sit in class wondering if everyone was ok.

My heart truely goes out to everyone who was affected by this tragedy.
