Good Morning Girls!!!! Hope everyone is keeping cool this morning because the humidity out there is no joke.
Today i want to touch the topic of careers!
Q: What was your major in college and what field of work are you in now? how did you end there??
For future brides that are still in school. What is your major? and what is your future career?
A: My major was Computer Science with a business minor. I took a whole lot of programming classes and realized that programming was not for me. My first out of college job was Help Desk/Executive Asst. I realized then that desktop support was not for me either. Then I started my current job and got the opportunity to become a Business Analyst. Which is combining IT & Business and I love it!!!

I have an accounting degree from Binghamton. I went to Law School right after college and now I am working at a law firm doing estate work and I represent school districts. So not really accounting related!
I got very lucky... I randomly sent a resume for a summer position to the place I work now. They hired me for the summer. They told me that it was not a situation where they automatically would hire me full time and that normally they did not. I guess they liked me because 9 years later... I am still here!

I have a BA in Journalism and after a couple internships and failing at finding a job in communications I tried to find other opportunities.
Now I'm an office admin for a mid-sized company. I love that it's more than a receptionist, more like being on a team that is the foundation for the company. As much as I enjoy writing, have to pay bills and be able to live in the city somehow!

Wow--- so many smart girls here! My brain is not suited for most science or math-related things. lol
I did my undergrad in Binghamton for psychology. Now I am finishing my clinical psych phd on the island. I am on internship this coming year at a psychiatric hospital (I actually love doing this work! I didn't think I would..), and have to defend my dissertation. I can't wait til I officially am no longer a student!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FH went to Binghamton too!
I did my undergrad at Penn State for Human Development and Family Studies, minor in Spanish. I orig wanted to be a Child Psych but was not interested to go into Masters Program right away, so I wound up working in Staffing/Headhunting. Now I work for a large corporation doing internal Recruiting and HR.
I like it most days, but it can get very boring!

I went to school for acting (that worked out reallll well lol) I ended up just doing alot of producing (mainly line producing) and then somehow ended up producing red carpet and press events
Now after 3 years I am back in school to be a wedding and event planner... I am too wedding obsessed to let it end when my day is over...plus I get more joy out of helping other people achieve their vision..its more rewarding than just planning my own wedding

I originally went to Stony Brook for pre-med .. and hated it! So I ended up majoring in Economics and Sociolgy (no idea why!).
My first full-time job was working at a hospital in the Staffing Dept .. so I decided to go back to school for Human Resources since it was related. Since then I have always continued to work in HR, but in all different industries .. Vitaminwater, a finance company, a non-profit, and now a legal services company.

I have a bachelors in Childhood Education and a Masters in Childhood Ed with a focus on Literacy. I teach 3rd grade. My original career choice out of high school was physical therapy but after 2 science courses, I was done! I'm terrible at math and science, so I chose teaching and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

I majored in Child Study Education. I teach a special education class in the city. I'm doing exactly what I wanted to do when I graduated from college. I feel lucky to have a job I love!
