Good Morning Girls!!!! Hope everyone is keeping cool this morning because the humidity out there is no joke.
Today i want to touch the topic of careers!
Q: What was your major in college and what field of work are you in now? how did you end there??
For future brides that are still in school. What is your major? and what is your future career?
A: My major was Computer Science with a business minor. I took a whole lot of programming classes and realized that programming was not for me. My first out of college job was Help Desk/Executive Asst. I realized then that desktop support was not for me either. Then I started my current job and got the opportunity to become a Business Analyst. Which is combining IT & Business and I love it!!!

My major was biology, I was going the pre-med route. After college I worked as a glorified secretary for a hospital in the city. The pay was great, but the job not so much. I decided that I no longer wanted to go to medical school bc I wanted to have a big family (4-5 kids), which would be difficult to do while dealing with internships, residencies, and fellowships. So I went back to school for nursing and just graduated in May. Now I am studying for my licensing exam and I praying that I pass and land a job by September! Wedding planning is depressing when you have no income!

My major in college was English. When I was in college, I had planned on going to law school and figured being an English major would help strengthen my reading and writing skills. Being able to read the fine print in a novel is similar to being able to read the fine print in a legal document. After college, I worked as a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal for a Top 100 firm, took the LSAT, scored a 165 and decided that law school wasn't for me. Due to the economy, my law firm actually dissolved after 150years of existence and I was laid off. After getting laid off, I decided that I wanted to switch careers and start working as a HR Professional. I enjoy working with people and definitely care about everyone's experience at a company. I enrolled in a part time (weekend) Master's program last summer, started applying for HR jobs and now I'm in HR.
