QOTD- Wedding Nightmare!

Original post by coldasice217

Ok, so I'm straying from my 'list' today, but I figure I can throw in some extra questions

I was trying to fall asleep last night, and had a 'wedding flash'. I can't really call it a nightmare, because I was still semi-conscious, but it was a truly frightening thought.

FBIL has been surrounded by weddings and engagements lately. First his cousin, then his brother (FH), now one of his best friends just got engaged. He has a gf that he has been with for maybe 2 1/2-3 years now, and although they're 'young' (they're both my age, 23-24), they probably will get engaged at some point in the next few years I would assume. So I think he may be getting some ideas in his head.

So my panic-inducing flash was...what if he proposes at our wedding???? Sometimes I highly question this family's thought process...like they would totally think this is an acceptable thing to do, because it's a family affair. Yes, they are that @$$ backwards sometimes.

So my question to you ladies....what would you do if someone proposed to their gf (or bf) at your wedding???? I mean, what would you REALLY do, and how would you REALLY feel. I don't want to hear someone get all Pollyanna and say it's a beautiful wondrous thing and then have everyone lemming off that. I want honest, REAL emotions and actions.

Like, would you willingly sacrifice your cake to go grab the girl and smash her head into it?

Not that I would do that, of course. I do like FBIL's gf, just I would be extremely hurt if they were do do something like that at my wedding. They have a pack mentality, and sometimes I don't think much care or attention is given to an individual's feelings. So while I probably wouldn't go smashing heads, I would probably have a VERY noticably pissed look on my face, and discretely excuse myself from the party for a few minutes to go sulk in the bridal suite.

Ok girls...be HONEST.

I'm from an Italian family also (aren't all Gina's lol) and I don't think that crap would happen, but if it did:

I would put on a nice smile and not make a scene, and you know what, it's really NOT a big deal, but it's really rude for someone to do that, and I think it's common sense ettiquette not to. I would actually really feel bad for the bride to be/newly engaged girl because there was really no thought put into the proposal!! I mean, what girl EVER wants to be proposed to at SOMEONE ELSES WEDDING?????? I mean, not to say that I wouldn't be happy to be proposed to anywhere, but come on now!

I would be so excited !!! more to celebrate... when anyone gets engaged or has exciting news I cant help to think how grateful everyone is at that moment.. I know you might think I am a liar but I cant help it .. all the people u love are rarely ever under the same roof and if someone picks my day to do such a beautiful thing than I can only be be thankful that we are all alive and well to witness it .... I know most people reactions are its my day, its inappropriate etc but my feelings are 'wow Fh and I inspire them to share the rest of their lives together or we were able to have everyone they love under the same roof

Re: QOTD- Wedding Nightmare!

well, i wouldn't smash HER head in the cake, maybe the boyfriend's, b/c technically it's not her fault. unless she is the one proposing...

i would be upset on the inside and try to fake being happy for them... on the outside though, i wouldn't show it b/c i would probably look like the @sshole... honestly though, in order to get the crowd's attention, the proposer would have to ask someone for the mic, right? i would hope the dj would consult me or DH first...

I waited 10 years for fh to propose so I would be so happy if one of my friends got engaged at my wedding, now, no offense to anyone, but if it was someone that was 20 or only dating a few months, I'd be pissed!
