I hope you are all enjoying my questions and theme so far I can't believe I'm already almost halfway through this week! I guess time flies when you're having fun
Part One: What was the final selling point for your venue that set it apart from the other venues you and FH were looking at and made you book? (Location, decor, size, extras they 'threw in', etc.)
Part Two: Where do you and FH plan on living after the wedding? Describe your dream 'venue' or home for your family.

Part One: To be honest, there was definitely a better price at Crest Hollow CC and that was our second choice because they also had an outdoor ceremony area, a piano player when you walk in, and the venue was beautiful. But FH fell in LOVE with the Winter Garden Pavilion at the Fox Hollow. To him, it was the only place we had seen where he didn't get the feel that he was just walking into any other reception hall room. And I agree with him. It also had the outdoor cocktail and ceremony area that I really wanted and the WGP was still beautiful to host our ceremony if it rains. It was a great combination of what we both wanted. The room itself really sold us at the end of the day.
Part Two: As of now, my position provides John and I with an apartment, so we will likely return there after the wedding. I am looking into relocating to another university down the road, but those positions will also provide us with an apartment. After the wedding, I believe our goal is to just save up all of the money we can to buy a home in the future and when the time is right, we will be able to make that move. My dream home would be a victorian style home with a front wrap around patio and finished basement. I would love to have an attached garage as well. But who knows, years from now that may not even be close to what my dream home looks like then.

1. The Woodlands was the first place we went to. I honestly didn't even think I was going to like it. FMIL went to a wedding there for someone in the family she wasn't getting along with and pretty much had a terrible time just because. I wanted a mansion and decided 'what the hell?' just go check it out. My family and I were blown away and I just got this feeling when I was there that 'this was it'. There's another mansion that I thought I was definitely going to LOVE and have my reception there for sure, but it turned out to be way below my expectations. That's when i knew it was the one! And never mind the price was right!
2. We've been discussing this and we aren't sure. We live in Long Beach now and will be renewing our lease in June. So by next June I'm not sure what we'll do. I originally wanted to move back to our hometown, but I'm not sure I'll want to do that so soon.

When FH and I walked into Lombardis on the Bay I was SOLD! The ballroom is EXACTLY what I wanted. No carpets, glitz, sparkles, just overall exactly where I pictured myself getting married. Plus its Lombardis so I know their food will be amazing!!!

FH and I will be happy living anywhere but with his family! I live in a box if we have to!!

1) we only looked at one because my uncle is a chef there and we know the food will be great
2) we'll be staying in our house and have plans to add another bedroom and a sunroom to the first floor and dormer the second floor

When we walked in we just knew it was where we can see ourselves getting married. We knew that it was our place and plus there were so many signs going on there- THe bride and groom were Joe and Jenn and playing our song. It was Fate!

Yay! Great question!!
1.) We picked Thatched Cottage-- the selling point for me is that it looks like Snow White's house from the outside!! haha. It was just so fairy tale looking that I fell in love! I feel like on my wedding day I could be standing outside in their beautifully landscaped grounds and animated animals will come out & play with me in my wedding dress! (If my BM can arrange for that to happen, I will tip him more!!! )
2.) We have 2 priorities here-I want to live close to my family & work and my fiance' works in the city, so if he is on my town's train line it's much easier/closer than the one he is currently on due to where he lives. We were originally thinking of buying a house, but feel that with the wedding & all that, the easiest, less stressful thing to do at first is get an apartment or condo and then eventually buy a house once we are settled into married life!

Part One
It was Douglason Manor's unique look and atmosphere that was the final selling point. It was meant to be a historical manor- and we wanted that historic rustic feel. It's got an outdoor ceremony location, a goregously lit indoor in case of rain (not basement like other places we looked) and ambiance was beautiful.
It didn't hurt they dropped their reserve on their largest and nicest room by 25 people, and we got them to cut the price per head because we booked Friday night.
Part Two
We're not sure. We've been saving up for a potential two-bedroom townhouse or condo for a while, or a small house if the market is right. FH is in the middle of a potentially huge job change between markets and industries. I am in the midst of a large job change witin one company. Both are positive - but leave us on a bit uncertain footing. We at least need a 2-bedroom apartment or one iwth office space as I work from home.

Part One
We wreent even going to stop there and we were doing the Jerich Turnpike reception hall day! LOL But I made him stop after Lizzie (2011 bride) told me about it and I saw it in her pictures. 4 floors, hospitality floor, cocktail floor and reception floor and the penthouse floor is the HUGE bridal suite...I couldnt say no. The food is a ridiculous amount and anything we wanted was like yes, you can have it. They are just so nice and I love how the dance floor is elevated so everyone in the room can see at all times. For the amount of food, service and the way it looks we got a steal!
Part Two
Well, my mom wants a smaller house for her and my grandma. We currently live in the first floor of a mother daughter house and my mom and grandma live upstairs. So my mom is selling her house to me (no she isnt giving me a break LOL) and Bobby and me and my son will move upstairs to the 3 bedroom house portion and the downstairs which is also 3 bedrooms will be my day care. I am going to start a day care and work from home and have babies. I love FH for allowing me to do that! (thats why the NYPD idea was scary) Hopefully this is how this all happens. The hosue sits on half and acre so the backyard in huge and I just love it! It sits on a culde sac too so it's so safe!

I saw 10 venues (FH was with me for about 6 of them - his previous work schedule was HORRIBLE). He has never seen where we are getting married. Honestly one the reason he liked it was his favorite comfort meal was one of the cocktail hour foods and I liked it for the outside cocktail hour!
After we are married we will remain in the house we own in NJ until we can get our dream house (or close to it). FH's is a police officer in NJ therefore we have to remain in NJ. I still come to LI every chance I can get to see family!

Are you doing Viennese hour? My friends got married at your venue and it was ridiculous!

Re: ~*~*QOTD Wednesday, 3/14/12*~*~
Part One
It was the second venue and I just fell in LOVE with it. I loved the atmosphere and the outside - plus Maureen really 'got us' as a couple. We were talking about how FH is going to be in the new Batman movie & her eyes lit up and she said 'you're walking in to the Batman theme right?!' We were planning on it, but I think that sold FH right then and there Plus they threw in a vienese portion if we booked by a certain date. We also looked at 8 other places and I couldn't have envisioned our wedding any place else. (I was even having dreams about it!)
Part Two
We are currently in one apartment, but hope to move by the end of the summer. We will probably be in an apartment after the wedding, but I want to save for our house. My dream house is a Victorian with a wrap around porch (sorry Mariana! I just completely agree!) with a HUGE backyard.

Great minds think alike! I love it and Good call on the backyard! I would love the huge backyard too! So funny because I definitely came up with this dream house when I was younger playing the game 'LIFE' and then the love for the structure just continued to grow from there. I always wanted to have the victorian house in the game!

1) We loved it as soon as we went there.. It was the first RH I visited.. After seeing 14 others.. () we took our parents to our top two, which were Woodbury CC and Chateau Briand.. I wasn't sure about Woodbury at first because of the low ceilings but I felllll in love with the outside and love the fact that we have it all night! Plus, both our parents loved Woodbury CC over Chateau Briand. What set it apart was the outside area.. beautiful! =)
2) We plan on living in an apartment/condo and saving up money to purchase a house.. My mother used to clean a house in St. James on a Cul-De-Sac.. It was the prettiest house I've ever seen and all the neighbors seemed so friendly. I've always dreamed of living in a nice area where everyone knows each other and the house has two stories.. wood floors.. big backyard.. and a fireplace!

For me it was the old vintage look, Im not a friend of modern and I just loved the coziness of the place. I always wanted to get married in a mansion or a historical house so this was a good pick for me. The decor, the outside grounds,....It is beautiful
