QOTD: What is the one LIFE LESSON you learned through the whole wedding planning process? My Thoughts for the day...
Mine has to be that people will always have their opinions. No matter what you do in life, or how much you try to please other people, someone will always find something to complain about or criticise. Its human nature. You just simply cant please everyone.
My solution?
Why even bother sometmes
Girls... as long as YOU & your FH's are happy, that is all that matters. Its your wedding YOUR choice YOUR decisions. All of our older family & friends as had their chance to plan their weddings, and our single friends who criticise & complain should NOT have the right to an opinion.... afterall What do they know about wedding planning? They dont even know HALF the things involved in putting a wedding together.
I just needed to state this because as I read these posts, I realize that we are all guilty of trying to please others in one way or another whether we realize it or not!)
Doesn't it seem like everyone is soOoo overly-concerned, criticise & state their opinions about every little thing we do concerining our wedding? Where were these people 4 years ago? What about when the wedding is over? Will these people still have as much interest in our lives then, like they do now?
Anyway.. those are my thoughts for today. Im glad its Friday. its nice out.. Kissy is getting married today, Its the begining of a beautiful weekend and Im out of this miserable place today at 4:00.

That almost everything is priced for a discount. I dont think we paid the original asking price for anything we booked or purchased. Dont be afraid to ask for a discount. 99% of the time you will get it or get an 'extra' thrown in. You arent being cheap, and I really think they expect you to ask for it.

my sentiments exactly. i couldnt agree with you more.. i have done all i can to make everyone happy - to start, i had 12 bridesmaids instead of 6.. i might have been guilted in to the other 6, but lets not even go there.
i'm so happy you get to leave at 4 today, i'll be lucky to get out by 6.
my life lesson for everyone is as long as you and fh are happy, nothing else matters, everything else will fall in to place..
we all have our health thank goodness, and we are all marrying great men.. what more can we ask for??
Happy Friday ladies!!!

Life Lesson - Even though I knew this before, the whole wedding process has made me realize even more how much I love my family and how much they love me. Also when you find the perfect person, you really do know it-it all feels right and everything works out. All those ex's and heartaches over the years were worth it, because they weren't right-I just didn't know it at the time.

aw Janie baby, you're so right.
with just 22 days left, this is coming in handy. it took me 11 months to say this to some people and their opinions and drama, but now, I feel unbelievably FREE!
so to all you haters and opinionated beyotches in the world (and I am not taking about anyone on this site, who, even in disagreements, have at least been CONSTRUCTIVE!)

Sometimes you just have to keep your mouth shut.

Weddings separate the good from the bad Planning a wedding will help you figure out who really cares about you, who is there to support you, who just wants to show off, who is only there in the good times and who is just not as nice as you thought they were. In the end, you have to plow forward and be happy that at least you have one person you can always count on (even if he isn't the best wedding planner and is completely oblivious): FH

Unfortunately, I have also learned that there are people who I thought loved me and cared about me, but really don't - now that is sad and hurtful and will probably hold a grudge for awhile
Sorry so sappy
I feel the same way...you really learn who is important to you...and who REALLY cares about you. I just lost someone who i was friends with for over 10 years because she was being so selfish and among other things. Life goes on...I'll have a DH in four months and be moving into our new house so I can't wait

IVE LEARNED THAT WEDDING PLANNING REALLY SHOWS HOW UNRELIABLE PEOPLE REALL ARE
IVE LEARNED TO AVOID ALL CONVERSATIONS ABOUT WEDDINGS WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE KNOWN TO GIVE YOU THEIR OPINION
IVE MET SOME OF THE GREATEST PEOPLE ON HERE AND FOR THAT I AM VERY THANKFUL

That its JUST a party!! Don't sweat all the small stuff, at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you are married to your true love. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Good thing:
I have learned that I CAN rely on the kindness of strangers as you ladies (And some guys here too) have supported me through the toughest year that coincided with the happiest year of my life.
Bad thing I also learned that there are some people in this world who can't be happy for someone else no matter what.

You can't please everyone, no matter how hard you try and how much you sacrifice yourself.... I pretty much knew that anyway, it's just amazing how people will totally just say whatever they want and don't seem to care about hurting your feelings. This woman who helped us when we were picking our bridesmaids dresses hushed all the girls at one point and turned to me and said 'You're the BRIDE. It's YOUR day. What do YOU want?' I was bowled over - in the whole YEAR of my planning NO ONE said anythign like that to me!! All I've gotten is negativity toward my very untraditional wedding plans, no one has said 'well, you're paying for it and it's your day, what do you think is best...?' and trust me - I haven't asked anyone but you ladies for opinions - these are people just butting in with their un-asked for advice.
