well we are booked to go to Thailand...but 99.5% sure we wont be going (bc of whats going on w/the red shirts recently).... so now i need a backup plan

FH was able to get 17 days off, which is the longest vacay he'll have until we retire. So, we figured we should go to the farthest possible place - somewhere you can't do in just 1 week. So, we're going to Australia.

We knew we needed to do something 'touristy' and not a beachy place. FH and I aren't beach people, and we've done Bahamas, Aruba and Key West. We also knew we didn't want to stay in just one place. Our original plan was Australia until we saw the prices. So our next idea was the Mediterranean cruise. No need to pack and unpack several times, yet we still get to see a ton of places.

We love cruises and FH is all about being Italian. So we're going to Rome & Venice then a Greek Isle cruise (14 days total!!!)... Can Not Wait!!!

we wanted to go for as long as possible on our budget so that elliminated super expensive places which would have been awesome but we would only be able to go for a week or less.
we wanted warm/hot weather, nice beach, 200% wanted an all inclusive with great food (not just standard all inclusive food quality) and a few places to go off the resort if we wanted. a resort with some night entertainment but not crazy spring break atmosphere or anything. someplace that catered to honeymooners.
so we chose mexico, excellence playa mujeres. could not be happier with our choice. we LOVED it and cant wait to go back!
eta: places we were considering but didnt make the cut, lol, were...
italy- LOVED this idea and had planned out the hotels already and did some reseach, was ready to book. the price wasnt bad and i got some amazing deals on nice hotels in venice, and the amalfi coast but then we figured out that we would have to bring like 4K to enjoy ourselves the way we would want to on a once in a lifetime trip and we couldnt swing the spending money.
med cruise- also loved this idea and we would get to see so many places on the same price or a little less than just going to Italy alone. we decided though that since we never had been to Europe, it would be more or a tease only seeing some countries/cities for a day. we want to experience Europe like residents do and sit around and stroll the streets at night.
aruba- too expensive for hotels we wanted
jamaica- we felt we could go back inexpensively another time and it wasnt luxurious enough for us, just personally
st lucia- good choice but for the same price, we got to stay longer in mexico
hawaii- way too expensive for the way we would want to enjoy it in nice hotels and direct flights, good restaurants, etc.
st. martin- not an all inclusive country like hawaii isnt either and we really wanted that.

Aruba because it's out of the hurricane belt, and our honeymoon is in August...plus, I heard great things and I got a really good deal.........flight and hotel for 7 nights $2000!!
my dream honeymoon was Fiji/Tahiti but no dinero

We decided that we dont know when the next time we will be able to go to europe so we decided to go as our HM. FH has never been to europe. He only saw a small town in sicily his family is from. I toured Italy and really wanted to see more of europe and we thought the best way to do this is a cruise.

We chose Fiji b/c it's a once in a lifetime vacation, the people are amongst the friendliest in the world, it's tropical, cultural, amazing resorts, tons of really unique excursions...I could go on & on lol

We dont have a ton of options for December....we really wanted to go to Europe but its cold there that time of year. We both did not wanna go to Asia or Hawaii or really anyplace in the Pacific that took hours and hours to get to. We did, however, wanna go to Australia but dont have the money right now, so we pretty much chose out of the Caribbean and have heard great things about St Lucia and since we both havent been there, we chose St Lucia!
