well we are booked to go to Thailand...but 99.5% sure we wont be going (bc of whats going on w/the red shirts recently).... so now i need a backup plan

we chose based on the process of elimination
August is a pretty bad time to go on a HM apparently ... caribbean / mexico have hurricanes, and europe is extremely hot and sticky. We originally chose Tahiti but it was too damned expensive ... so Hawaii it is

We wanted something that was all inclusive, beautiful, beaches, and inexpensive. Since we had been wanting to go to DR for a while we decided on Punta Cana. Everyone else told us to book Aruba since it's Hurricane season but we went there 3 years ago and wanted to try something else.

we wanted something where we could relax on the beach but there was also a lot of stuff to do, somewhere neither of us had been, and we have both always wanted to go to hawaii.

We wanted to be able to go on a long HM without breaking the bank, and we both did not want to change hotels and take a long flight cause we felt that would make it less relaxing. We wanted to go somewhere different and luxurious and with nice beaches and heard that antigua has the best beaches in the caribbean!

We got some extra honeymoon $ from a fam member and knew we'd never have the time to go to Hawaii for a very long time. Our first first choice was Costa Rica but rainy season kinda made our decision for us.

we really love disney world so we decided to go there for the first half to do the fun, childish, active thing, and then we decided on the bahamas for the second half bc we wanted to go to a beautiful island that has all inclusives and wouldn't be too rainy in july!

we couldnt decide where to go so our TA suggested st lucia and to make our decision easy, we went with it. we agonized for a long time over it and in the end we are so excited!

due to the hurricaine season, we were kind of limited.....we wanted to go to the bahamas, but that was out.....we were kind of left with Hawaii, Aruba or St Lucia....>St Lucia we took out because of the hurricaine season. Hawaii is really far and because we are going to Greece and Italy next summer, we figured we would save the long 10hr flight for then. We also heard nothing but great things about Aruba so we wound up picking Aruba!

FH and I have been traveling together since we met and we've been to a LOT of regular HM destinations - Hawaii, Aruba, Greece, Italy, Mexico. We wanted to do something different for our HM. Even though we totally agreed that we'd fall back on ANY of those places since we loved them so much.
At first we were thinking Dubai, but I wasn't feeling that after a while, they're going through a recession over there and it's hot as helll, plus the flight is like 35 hours. No thanks.
Then we were thinking of a Fiji/Australia trip, but we didn't have enough miles.
We finally decided on Tahiti and Bora Bora with a pit stop in Cabo beforehand

We have heard great things about Aruba and being that we are getting married in Sept, we didn't want to chance a hurricane in most of the other islands. Aruba has great weather and is out of hurricane territory!

We did Spain because my DH really wanted to go. I'm a push over plus I really wanted to go back. It was really awesome. We did a tour which was great because we got to see a lot of things we wouldn't have gotten to see had we gone independently.
The kind of downside was that we were on a tour with a lot of older people. I was annoyed at first that we were spending our HM with them but I really got to know them and they were great... and they liked to put back a few! They were living it up just like us!

We wanted to do a cruise, and it was the cruise that was most convenient to our wedding date on the cruise line we wanted lol.
We wanted a cruise because its all inclusive and ours is out of New Jersey so we get 2 cruise days on either end of the trip...which is really nice because you really don't have much contact with the outside world, the ship has tooooooooons to do and you can just relax and do whatever
