I can't believe its Thursday already. I wish this week would slow down.
Anyhoo, on to the QOTD.....
Do you think your parent's marriages or relationships have/had an effect on your relationship?
No,my parents aren't romantic people and I am. It could even be my personality. I do however hope to be married as long as them.
Ok, Your turn
Have a wonderful day!! - one smile because I didn't get a ticket to TWOTY

definitely had an impact on me. their marriage is one of the best I know. They are truly partners in everything. They both cook, clean, take care of me and my brother, look after their parents. Nothing is the other person's domain, everything is shared and talked about. Very caring and giving ppl. And I model my relationship with FH after them.
This Sept it was their 30th Anni, so I wish them another 30 times 10000

Absolutely. I learned from my mother to make sure I stand up for myself and never let a man put me down (my father was very condescending towards her). Unfortunately, sometime I take that to the extremes and it ends up causing fights
As for FH's parents, I would love for us to have a marriage like theirs. They've been married 30 years now and are still going strong.
I've told FH time and time again, I don't want to end up like my parents, married for 30 years just to end in divorce

absolutely, kind of like what reg said. my parents have such an amazing relationship, they help each other with everything, talk about everything, etc. they have truly set a wonderful example of what a good marriage should be. they were married 32 years this past september.

Defiantely they have a huge impact. Next week my parents will be married for 48 years They are not the most romantic couple I know but they are partners in everything they do. Its amazing that after all these years that they still enjoy each others company and love doing things together. I can really see FH and I being like that.

Without a doubt... my parents will be married 41 years in May... i have very few bad relationships in my family.. ive been lucky that way... FH really only has his parents as a bad relationship... but the rest of his family have lasting relationships!!!!!!!

my parents got divorced when i was 7, so i dont really remember much about their marriage. what i did learn from them is that, I WILL NOT DIVORCE! not an option... my marriage will not turn out like theirs

I've learned a lot about what NOT to do in a marriage. I guess I tend to focus on the negatives with my parents relationship. Don't get me wrong, they're great and they've been married for holy CRAAAP!!! 43 years!!!!!! I guess I never really see the more personal, caring side of their relationship, that's why. FH's parents ..... forget that. They are the epitome of what not to do (they're divorced now).

definitely! my parents have been married for 35 years and i have seem them go through some really rough situations... and even so they still go on their vacations alone, play golf together, and i just love when you see them randomly grab each others hands or catch them hugging!
FH's parents have been married even longer than that and they have such a similar relationship to my parents.
We are luky that we both grew up seeing that, cause they are both role models for we both want for our marriage!

i feel the same. Being a child of divorced parents makes me want to work harder to have a strong healthy marriage and not get a divorce!

Well I hope not! My parents have been divorced since I was 4. My they both remarried a couple of times My relationship with FH is nothing like theirs. I'm in it for the long haul for better or for worse.

my parents r so happily married and sickly in love...so i think that had a hugeee impact on me... Fh's parents have ****** circumstances because his dad became legally blind later in life, so his mom is more like a caretaker, but they r together and her unconditional love for him is inspiring

Definitely. There are some things I know I want to include in my marriage... and some thing I'd rather leave out... based on my parent's marriage. I just hope that in 25 years, we're as happy and in love as they still are!

Since my dad was always working and we rarely saw him, I thought my parents should be divorced growing up. It's not until I was out on my own (being divorced myself) that I understood that working was just something that had to be done to maintain a certain level of comfort. I get it now. The time they spend together is QUALITY time. I hope Freddie and I stay married as long as my parents.

Well, my parents separated when I was 2, so I didn’t really get to see their relationship in action, but I must say- they both gave me great advice on what NOT to do in a relationship, so I guess that’s good.
BTW, I am so happy to see how many of your parents have been married soooooo long. It’s really a strange thing for me to see, since I never experienced it.

Absolutely. My parents had me when my mom was 17 and my dad was 19. They got married when I was 3. We struggled financially a lot; my dad also overcame alcoholism when I was about 5. I saw how my mother dealt with him as an alcoholic and as a recovering alcoholic...she is a big giver of tough love. I'm 100% the same way. While we struggled financially for years, my parents were always loving towards each other and towards my sister and I. As a family, we never ever stifled our emotions...what we were feeling was always verbalized. No point in holding anything in, you know?
