B]What is your greatest fear about growing old together?
My biggest concern is our future kids. The world they'd be living in. My parents let me and my brother go to the store by ourselves, walk to school etc. since we were like 8. I'm not sure I feel okay letting our kids have that freedom. Just general craziness about kids having sex at like 11 etc. I want kids but I'm scared for them already!
A superficial worry for me is that I'm the first of my close group of friends to get married. They are all working on their careers and say they don't see themselves getting married for more than a few years...I'm afraid that marriage and kids will weigh on my body and I'll be the old, fat looking one of the bunch and my friends will still be super hot!
Oh! Also, I worry that FH will die way before I do. He doesn't have the best eating habits (bacon is his favorite food group) and I worry for him!
I guess I'm a huge worry wart!
How about you girls? Any worries?

I have a few - and one is the same as yours. With how the kids are going to end up. FH and I talk bout this all the time and he said that we just need to discipline and guide them. but sometimes, their friends can make them do a lot of horrible things. I'm glad that we grew up during the time that we did, but I'm concerned defintely for the future - esp seeing all these news about kids doing things at such a young age.
Another fear is not having enough $ to support ourselves and kids. I feel like i'm struggling now
and back to the kids - it is shallow of me, but I'm afraid of gaining weight and never able to lose it again once i have them
and finally i'm worried of being in one of those marriages where the passion dies - i really hope that's not the case. I love my FH and always will - i hope he feels the same bout me

Re: ~!~!~!~!~QOTD~!~!~!~!~3/11/10
the only thing I really fear about is after the kids grow up to 'that age' where they start to drift away from the parents or start fights with us over dumb things that we won't let them do or bf/gf we don't approve of... I would just hate to lose a connection with one of my children. I want to not only be their mother but their best friend and I also want for FH and I to be on the same team and not play good cop/bad cop when it comes to our kids.

I biggest fear about getting old is watching my MOM get older. It really saddens me now thinking about it, cuz i know she is not happy about getting older. My mom loves being dressed nice every single day having her nice done and she always looks so pretty to me.
and the fear of loosing my parents even worse. I know its life. but my mom doesnt even live in the USA and i speak to her 3 times daily. I am so close to both of them.

Omg I can't believe I didn't include money worries. That is my biggest worry at the moment and I don't think age will ease me. You'd think I grew up in the depression!

I'm afraid of dying. I'm afraid of what this country is going to look like and be when my kids are my age. I'm always worried will I ever have enough money for the kids, food and home.

Re: ~!~!~!~!~QOTD~!~!~!~!~3/11/10
yeah my biggest worry is $. We're in a bad place right now with the house etc and I feel like I'm just paying and paying and paying.
It's FH's idea to have a wedding and sometimes I just wanna run away. lol
I also really worry about the day my parents die. I;m an only child and the past 2 years have been awful. My Mom got hit by a car while walking in 2008 (she's ok but spent 6 weeks in the hosp and had extensive surgery) and my Dad had a blood clot in his lung in Oct and still isnt working. he's not recovering like I think he should and it's terrifying me. How can I handle this on my own? sigh.

This scares me too...I hate watching my parents get older. My parents came to help FH and I throw a bunch of furniture in the dumpster and my Dad was out for a week because he hurt his back!
That's not supposed to happen!

Re: ~!~!~!~!~QOTD~!~!~!~!~3/11/10
Fears.... Fears...
My parents dying =(...
My FH dying before me but to be honest, I saw one email one day that make me thin of something, This email was about how She (the wife) died before him (Husband)... He went to visit her at the Cementery and he said 'I am so glad you left before me, because knowing you, you would not be able to deal with this pain of being by yourself here. I prefer to be the one who is suffering your death instead of you suffering my death and living the rest of your life by yourself.' So that made me think, if I died before my FH, He would be devastated, I dont think he could make it.. =(
Kids? This world is turning more crazier by the second... kids having s3x at such a yound age!!!! I wonder how things will be when i have my kids as teenagers...

I worry about my FH dying :( - I think of life without him and I can drive myself to tears.
I also worry about being sick with Multiple Sclerosis and the burden it may cause to him and any kids we may have in the future

I'm affraid of my parents not being around one day. I'm also affraid of dying at a young age or FH dying at a young and my kids not growing up woth both of their parents. FH grew up without a dad and I can't imagine my life without my dad. I wouldn't want my kids to go through anything like that.

I worry about how the hell I am going to put up with my FH for the rest of my life!!!! LOL..just kidding..well partly!! On a more serious note, I do have the same fears as the rest of you girls, including losing our parents, losing him, and having kids and getting saggy and being the 'saggy, boring wife'. I always want to have date night and be my FH's girlfriend in addition to being the wife.

Biggest worry is money and how I will be able to support my family and my parents - they dont have much of a retirement plan so i worry about how that will fall into my plate as im an only child.
I worry about health issues too - FH has some health history that was really a freak of nature but it still worries me. Could something happen again?? Could something happen to our children??
It was also a question as to whether we would be able to have children due to his past health issues but luckily its not an issue and we should be good to go

Re: ~!~!~!~!~QOTD~!~!~!~!~3/11/10
I am such a worry-wart! lol I worry all the time about my and FH's health. We are both generally healthy people but for some reason I think if there is a disease out there it will get one of the two of us. It's nuts and very exhausting sometimes always worrying about that. In the end, my grandpa always tells me that you can't get out of this life alive and to stop worrying when you are going to die. lol I think I should really take his advice.
I also worry about if we will be able to have children. (again, goes back to my first worry having some kind of disease lol) We both really want to have children so if there was some reason we couldn't I definitely think it would be very difficult for us as a couple to handle.

$$$$$$$$$$ always worries me. Living on Long Island I guess it has to worry you.
Def worried about ever losing my mom. She had a stroke 3 years ago and has been healthy since, but its inevitable that one day it will happen. My dad died a year and a half ago and I just cant imagine losing my mom too.
I worry about having kids, if i can. If we'll raise them right.
i worry about EVERYTHING

Re: ~!~!~!~!~QOTD~!~!~!~!~3/11/10
I worry about divorce. I know that's a really strange thing for someone who is planning a wedding to say, but my parents just got divorced after 20+ years of marriage. I was 22 when they separated, and it was a total shock. I feel like when you get to that point in life, you just assume your parents will be together forever.
Turns out that once me and my sister left the house, my mom and dad were essentially strangers living in the same house. I worry that with everything ahead of us (work, kids, buying a house, etc), we will forget to work on us and 20 years down the road we'll look at each other and say 'what happened?'
even now, we have a lot of different interests that we pursue separately, which neither of us view as a negative. but i wonder if that's what it starts as, and it builds to the point where you each have your own life, without the other person without even realizing how you got there.
ugh. the thought of it makes me so upset. i look at how depressed my mom is even after 2 years, and i don't know if i could handle it!

kinda ditto on everything - parents getting older and GH dying before me...
one of my favorite quotes:
'if you live to be 100, i want to live to be 100 minus one day, so i never have to live without you'

My biggest fear about growing old together is just that growing old. I see older couples who are married for 40 or more years and lose their spouse. I couldn't imagine that. He has been my best friend since I was 17, How could I not have him by my side. It's a sad scary thought.
