QOTF 2.26.14

Happy hump day everyone! Half way to Friday woo hoo!

Paying all of my bills today and learning how to manage a check book, I have to thank my mom for that. When I first said I wanted a cellphone at 16 she's said ok now go out and get a job!

Because I was a snot nose teenager lol, I refused to work at mcdonalds, so I worked as a cashier at Sears in the smithhaven mall, and babysat. Hey it helped me get my cellphone.

Today I want to know what everyone's first job was! Whether you were a cashier or a babysitter, let's hears it.

QOTF 2.26.14

My first job was a summer job at the new York aquarium in Coney island when I was 14 Not because anyone told me but because I wanted to. I worked all summer on the food carts including 4th of july when everyone was barbecuing. I saved up all my money and bought my own school clothes that year.

QOTF 2.26.14 - Long Island Weddings

I guess technically my first job was going door to door selling coupon booklets. But since I only lasted a week doing that I usually count being a cashier at Grand Union my senior year of high school as my first real job. But even then I took a LOT of time off in that 6 month period haha

I had a sweet job babysitting. I did it after school and during vacations. Then I tutored as well. So I never had a retail job. Guess I got lucky.

I worked at a deli. I must have cut my hands up a hundred times using the slicer. That gig didn't last long!

Fun question! My very first job was answering the phones at my school's after-school program. I was in 8th grade, so I started when I was 13! It was only two afternoons a week for two hours, and obviously I had zero expenses back then, so I felt rich. I wish it could be that easy again!

I was a babysitter when I was like 14/15 and continued to babysit occasionally throughout high school and college.. I got my lifeguard certification when I was 16 and i consider that my first 'real job' lol since I had a set schedule and got paychecks and stuff haha...I was a lifeguard for about 6.5 years until I finished my Education degree and decided to let my lifeguard certs expire.. I still regret not keeping up with those certs though, because I totally would have lifeguarded every summer when I'm not teaching lol- It was such an easy job!

Babysitter! It was fun. I had good kids. That was my first paid job but my first paycheck came from a medical office during HS. I helped out with the filing, copying, mail errands, etc.

I did babysitting also, but my first 'real' job was at Modell's. I wanted a job so I could buy lots of clothes and shoes. Even when I was in college, my parents didn't want me working, but I insisted on getting a job at the mall, I think Casual Corner was the store I worked in.

My first job was in college. I was a pre-ged tutor at a local community outreach program, and I thought I was doing a stellar job. Little did I know, some of the kids photocopied my teacher's edition and cheated on every test. Its funny now, but embarrassing looking back.
