QTOD 2/14/14 - Long Island Weddings

YES! my sister had a destination wedding and only invited immediate family and close friends to it.. so this time around, my dad insisted I invited literally everybody we know because they weren't invited to the last wedding.. all of my DAD'S cousins (there's about 30-40 people with spouses included), all of my GRANDPARENT'S siblings, and all of my PARENTS neighborhood friends are invited... the only ones i know are my parents friends, but i don't know them that well. Our guest list is about 280 because of all of these add-on people. So there are about 50-60 people that I hope say no!

Absolutely. Our guest list is 264. I'm hoping for a guest list around 200 (we're not hoping for anyone in particular to not show, the guest list is just too big). So far we have 70 yes and 2 no.

We invited 268. We are currently at a comfy 245 but I am still expecting more nos.. my rsvp date is tomorrow and I still need more than 50 responses back.. Ladies do make your rsvp date at least a week before you actually need them by!! Lol

We definitely have some unruly family members we are inviting as a courtesy to our parents that I'd rather not attend.

NOPE. lol. FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves. Which sucks because I've never had to live this poor in my life to be able to save the money. But it DOESN'T suck because we don't have to include anyone else's random guest requests.

Very very few. I wanted a 120-130 person guest list and we ended up inviting about 150 (some friends of parents and the in-laws of my future in-laws). We ended up with a final count of 112 when all was said and done. We're paying for ~60-70% of the wedding and, luckily, both sets of parents are really great about supporting our moderate guest count.
Actually, both my mom and FMIL gripe that their parents had them invite so many people they didn't know or care about to their weddings back in the day - they both made sure they made things as painless as possible for me and FH

Yes! I wanted my wedding to be about 140-150 people max and the guest list is over 200. There's a lot of extended family that my mom is inviting which is a little annoying because I don't even know them!

when i got married the first time...yes. our list was 280 people and luckily only 220ish came.

this time getting married (and paying for it ourselves) the list is at 100. unfortunately i did cut a lot of my friends, but we wanted to keep it as intimate as possbile. i'm hoping between 80-90 end up coming.

There's a few people from out of town and elderly family members that I don't expect to make it but for the most part, there really isn't anyone. There are, however, people I'm hoping don't bring a plus one but we're doing it out of courtesy, lol.

We are hoping for 100 people only, however, I'm part of this 'group' from college and all of the girls invite eachother so I'm stuck inviting these girls since they are in the 'group' and I sent gifts even though i didn't attend their wedding. My FH has family he has to invite for politics/making his mom happy.

Our current invite list is about 205 and we are hoping for no more than 175. My fiancé believes we're far too popular for that to happen. Delusional much? Lol
