Re: Queens Girls
For flowers - there is Pedalstals in Howard Beach (also in LI). They are talked about a lot on this board being they are a recommended florist for many halls. I had looked at them when I was looking.
I also used Explosion in HB for my hair for my wedding day. I used Anna.
For invites, programs and my shower favors, I used Simply Elegant in Bayside (she is a vendor on the board) and highly recommend her.
I looked at Tony Ferrari for photography/videography. They have offices in Astoria and HB but I didn't like him. I went to the Astoria location. My MIL knew someone who recommended him and loved him. He was just very rude to me for photography 9I also thought he was a little too traditional for my taste)...but the video guy was really nice.
Also Spin Around Sound for DJ - they have an office in the city! That was so key for me - b/c when I was getting married I lived in Queens and worked in NY and did not drive. They are great!! I used them and went to 2 weddings since who used them.

Re: Queens Girls
Well for Photo and video, I'm using Tony Ferrari....yes he can be rude, but I've worked him enough times to know he's a perfectionist, his son Victor will be the videographer... Flowers I'm going to my moms florist in Astoria....annis florals
and makeup...i'm thinking of doing a trial with Oksana...
hair dunno yet.

Re: Queens Girls
I am also using Simply Elegant. Gail is great and did everything for my sister's wedding. I would totally recommend her. I believe she is in Bayside.

Re: Queens Girls
Donald Hedgecock is in Rego Park - very nice and really inexpensive! Info on my budget vendor page:
I totally understand, it's so much traveling out to the island for vendors, I live in Queens and here are some vendors that aren't to far out, the only thing to consider is that other recommendations and experiences can determine a lot, so the ones out on the island at least you have some reference. Okay, there is Pedestals and Flowers by Brian on Jericho Trnpke, There is Starlight Express DJ and In the Mix DJ also on Jericho Turnpike, SilverFox photo, Deja Vu photo and video-Jericho tpke, There is also a invitation place 'your invited' on Jericho tpke (these are all before you get to Glen Cove Road) so it's not really far into Nassau -about 10-15 minutes from Queens. There is are two photographers in Greatneck - not to far from Queens-Greatneck photographers and In Full View Studios, LA Blossom's florist will come to your home or location for a consultation.

Re: Queens Girls
Oksana is in Queens - she does makeup and you can either go to her or she'll come to you. She's a vendor on this site.
ETA: Jack and Rose also have a small place in Fresh Meadows on Union Turnpike for flowers. And there's a the big bridal center on Myrtle Avenue near forest in Ridgewood.

Re: Queens Girls
Ok, I know everyone says Jack & Rose is a touchy subject but they have a location in Queens. It's near Jamaica Estates on Union Turnpike & 188th Streets. I've used that store for a number of things (b-days, mothers day etc) & have always been pleased.
Also, for hair in Queens - without a doubt LP & Company. They are three stores down from Jack & Rose. I've seen the hair from 2 weddings done there & it's awesome. I've used Denise & she is great!
This so weird but....at the far end of the block on Union & Chevy Case St. is a bridal center. Now, IMO the dresses in the window - ouch! But they may be able to lead you in the right direction so at least it's a one stop area to check out!
Good luck! FM if you need more specifics on the locations!

Re: Queens Girls
Limos: Royalty Limo in Franklin Sq. (not too far)
Pics/Video: Leli Photography in St. James (a bit far, but really nice work, good prices)
Flowers: We used silk flowers for everything from Jackie's Mirrors & Silk Florals (59-25 Grand Ave. Maspeth 718-416-0571. Paid about $500 for bouquets, bouts, coursages, alter pieces. We actually brought back the alter pieces and she made 3 arrangements for us. It's a great memory!!
Reception: Stewart Manor Country Club (www.stewartmanor.com) We loved it. They advertise on LIweddings!! In Nassau, but very close to Queens.
DJ: DJs Unlimited in Franklin Sq. (www.djsunlimited.com) They were terrific!!!!
Good luck, Donna 10/5/03

Re: Queens Girls
Jack and rose only does wedding consultations from the LI site, I pass by the union tpke location everyday and there is never anyone in there and the lights are always off around 6:00ish. Anyway also on Union Tpke, my bus goes up and down there is a Photography place called Hillcrest photography, I don't know how they are, but check it out.
