Hey Guys! I am looking for a house or condo in either Westchester or Queens. Does anyone have any suggestions on where the safe (and not as expensive areas) are. I know queens but any suggestions would be great. Thanks ladies!

For Queens mb Bayside or Whitestone...
For Westchester try Rye, Larchmount, Pleasentville, Bronxville or Mamaroneck or even Harrison

Re: Queens/Westchester
By car its like 15-20 min to the city without traffic from Bayside or Whitestone
By public transportation: Bayside has the LIRR which is 15-35 mins depending on the schedule
Whitestone: express bus to the city is between 20-45 mins depending on traffic

Re: Queens/Westchester
The thing with Westchester is that many of the towns have great and poor areas. Most of it is very nice, though. I lived there as a kid and my entire family and many friends have lived/live there so if you have any questions I'm very familiar with the area. FM!

Bronxville, Larchmont, Rye, Rye Brook, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Scarsdale, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, & some areas of White Plains are nice.

Re: Queens/Westchester
We live in Glen Oaks, it's really nice here - but closer to Nassau than Manhattan... if you're lookin gin Westchester too then I suppose you probably want to be closer to the City.
There are no Subways here - which is part of the reason I think it makes it nice/safe.

Re: Queens/Westchester
my sister lives in yonkers but its a bronxville PO. It's fairly inexpensive but I wouldn't really want to send my kids to the schools. The area seems safe she's been there about 4 years with no problems. Bronxville is very very nice and there are cute apartments near the train station (if you commute to nyc) but im not sure of the prices. The other option is hartsdale/scarsdale. There are some very reasonable condos or coops around there and the area is very good. I grew up in westchester so if you have any ?'s feel free to FM me.
