Question...

Re: Question...

Im sorry Lauren, people are strange. I've experienced this 2 times both regarding deaths.
One of my best friends in the world didn't come to my Grandma's funeral, didn't call, didn't send a card....NOTHING! Meanwhile when his father died, I was there for him, whatever he needed. He also didn't show to my E-party which really pissed me off as well.
Second was when my father died...it was weird, some of the people at work I'm close to didn't send a card, didn't even say anything to me when I returned....this includes my big boss (soo not right). Its weird... some people that I don't really talk to sent donations to the charity I picked in lieu of flowers, which was really nice and I was surprised at their sincerity. And the friend that didn't show for my Grandmother's funeral and E-party was there.

So mine is a little different then yours.... I just gathered that people don't really know what to do when there is a death? I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But its hard.

Try not to be too upset Lauren. The main and MOST important thing is that Brad is healthy and safe!

Re: Question...

I'm sorry Brad had surgery. As far as these friends are concerned....

Is is possible that they just assumed that since he had a fairly routine procedure that he is just fine? I know surgery is scary for some people but I see a lot of surgeries every day. Actually off to one now. That is besides the point.

Again, I don't know the details but maybe they assume that since an appendectomy is a common usually uncomplecated procedure that he is fine.

I had my tonsils out when I was 22. A terrible time to have that surgery. I had a lot of complications and wound up staying in the hospital. My friends didn't even think about it because people get their tonsils out every day. They called once I was home to see when I would be better but not to offer any kind of support.

Maybe I'm de-sensitized, and since I don't know the whole situation its hard for me to understand. I bet these friends would feel terrible if they knew how much it hurt you though.

On another note....surgery is scary for the familes involved especially if you have never had any before yourself.

I guess its possible but i dont buy it. I dont care if you are having a wart removed...it takes 10 seconds to ask and see how a person is. Regardless of how many surgeries a person is used to or not used to. Just the right thing to do it my mind, but youre right not everyone feels that way

Re: Question...

my mother had a stroke when i was 16 leaving her completeley paralzyed and unable to speak she continues to be in this state ,,,, a lot of people did not reach out and continue not to reach out .... even family did/dont help and as a teenager i was soo mad and confused.. what i have learned is that even though some people dont do the things you would like or feel you would do in same situation........you have to remeber at the end of the day everyone is different.. all different people in your life play a different role, some console you when you are upset, some will take you shopping , others will talk to you on the phone for hours and some may not talk but help with errands etc

appreciate all the people in your life and underatand thier role if they serve no purpose at all then ignore them
