Question

I've been wondering....What is the proper etiquette inviting single people guest or no guest? What are the deciding factors?

Re: Question

Honestly, I think it all depends on your budget. If you can afford to have that extra person come or not.

Re: Question

There's no real etiquette. It's up to the bride and groom if they can afford all single people's guests.

We invited all single people with a guest, because we had only 4 single friends and decided just to invite them all with a +1. And by 'single,' I mean not engaged, married, or in a serious relationship.

Re: Question

lol Realisticly i would rather use that 'and guest' for someone i know and would want at my wedding. Is it rude to not put 'and guest' on the invite and just see if some people call and ask if they can bring a guest?

Re: Question

For me.... people that have a serious bf/gf, fiance or that dont know anyone else at the wedding...

Re: Question

It's not rude at all. Remember- It's your wedding- you get to do whatever you want.

Re: Question

We're only allowing guests for people who are engaged/in serious relationships. We're already wayyy over the max capacity of our room... I can't start having random people come just because someone wants a date (and def not at $200 a head)

This is exactly what we are doing!!

Re: Question

We didn't invite anyone with 'and guest' on their invitation, but I told all my single friends in person (or on the phone) that they were welcome to bring a S.O. if they wanted to. A few people were upset that their invitations didn't say 'and guest' but when I told them they could bring their guests, they were happy.

Only 1 of about 15 single guests ended up bringing 'random' guests (my step-sister -- who is now dating the guy she brought to our wedding!). Oh, she caught the bouquet too lol.

Proper to invite them with guest!

Re: Question

I don't think it's rude not put 'and guest'. Your wedding, your budget and people should understand.

I'm only inviting with guest if it's a serious relationship, not just a random wedding date.

Re: Question

we are inviting everyone over 18 with a guest.

Re: Question

Our rule of thumb was that anyone in a steady dating relationship was invited with that person.

Single people not in a relationship were invited without a guest, provided that they knew other people who were attending. There were a handful of people that would not really have known other guests, so they were invited with a guest, regardless of relationship status.

Re: Question

Thank you ladies. FH and I have discussed it and decided to only invite people in serious relationships with a guest. Everyone pretty much knows everyone so we think everything should go nicely this way.

Re: Question

I think its a personal decision. We invited everyone with a guest because I didnt feel it was my place to start judging people's relationship as to if it was 'serious' or not and we had toe budget to invite the guests.

this is exactlyyy what we decided..we've been asked by a couple people who were not invited with a guest, but me and FH told them sorry we're trying to keep the number down and we dont want anyone we dont know at our wedding

i think you made the right choice

Re: Question

FH and i are handling it differently for our sets of friends. i would rather have +1 b/c ive been in teh situation where i didnt get a '+1' and i wasnt too happy.
also, not too many single girls. so no big deal

half of his guy friends are single, so he doesnt feel a need to do a +1 for them. they are used to hanging out with eachother anyway

Re: Question

I'm inviting people with serious bf/gf (and obviously engaged & married couples) OR if I'm inviting a 'one-off' person that doesn't know anyone - they will get a guest.

Re: Question

It really depends whether that single person knows other people at the wedding. If they don't i'll give them a guest....
