Re: Question

My philosophy for my wedding is..if they are in a relationship I am definately inviting them with their guest

If they are single most likely they will not be +1 b/c our wedding is intimiate and not having a lot of people to begin with

Re: Question

I am inviting everyone with a guest. If you have a group of single friends, they might want to just go single. It's usually more fun than bringing a date who doesn't know anyone. I do think that you should give them the option though.

It's not rude at all. Remember- It's your wedding- you get to do whatever you want.

Re: Question

this is going to be controversial, but i am on a serious budget. i have a huge family and all my cousins' boyfriends (serious or not) equal about 20 extra people. none of their boyfriends (with whom i have no relatoinship by the way) are invitied. some people are pissed. but they're oging to have to live with it. it's my wedding. i'm paying for it. and i don't care to see people in the crowd i don't know and who aren't there because they're happy for us and love us.

Re: Question

we mostly have this problem with friends and not family -- if our friend has a gf/bf/fiance that they have been with for over a year then they are invited with a guest, if they don't or they haven't been together for that long, then they aren't being invited with a guest

Re: Question

Most friends invited are married, engaged, or in long term relationships. For the few that aren't, we aren't inviting them with dates.

You should only invite people with dates if you budget allows and you want to extend the invitation.

My huge issue right now is that my aunt (throwing me my shower) wants me to invite my 17 year old cousin with her boyfriend of 6 months---I think its ridiculous but its a hard case when she's spending so much on me...ugh....

I think this is not a good way of putting it. Just because its your wedding doesn't make it okay to offend or hurt people's feelings.
I am sending single people 2 invites. If they aren't going to bring a guest I ask them to reply and say they aren't. One reason for this is for all I know they could be dating someone and I haven't met them and I don't know about it. The second reason is even if a single person brings a date they aren't bringing the date for me, they are bringing a date for their own comfort. Someone to talk to as they sit at a table. I don't want anyone to feel singled out. It can be very awkward being a single person and attending a very couple oriented event by yourself.

I also have single girls in my Bridal party. I will in no way ever tell them they cannot bring a guest. To me bringing a guest is the choice of the single person you are sending an invite to.

I also disagree people saying that well if they haven't been together that long then I am still inviting them without a guest. That means that you are making assumptions as to how serious their relationship is. I think that is extremely rude. If I had been dating a guy for just a few months and I was invited to a wedding and given only one invite I would not show up. Although this is just my opinion

eta: the bridal party will all be invited with guests though, regardless if they are in relationships/married or not.

Re: Question

Believe me I am on a budget, but I am inviting people over 18 with a guest. I really feel like it is the right thing to do. If I were single I would hate to be invited to a wedding without a guest, especially if you do not really know anybody.

Re: Question

Thank you again ladies. It's just that i'm pretty young and so is FH and he has single guy friends who aren't really the settle down types which is fine, however I don't want random people at my wedding when i can have people I love. I think that for us it works out better to invite the single people with no guest. If they rsvp back and ask to bring a guest that might be up for discussion.

It really depends whether that single person knows other people at the wedding. If they don't i'll give them a guest....

ditto...
I feel like I'm spending too much money to have some random person there.
