Re: Vent: Accepting Applications for Bridesmaids

Ugh :( You should put them all in a really ugly dress to spite them lol. (I kid, of course.) Sorry they're being a pain in the butt... if you can't afford a dress don't be in the wedding party! And your MOH maybe is just jealous about the cute shoes. OR, maybe they really are uncomfortable and she is trying to spare you the pain???? But you will be able to make that determination for yourself once you get them!

Sounds like she may have been bit by the ugly green eyed monster to me!

I'm sorry they are being like this. Weddings seem to bring out the catty side in people, no matter how close they are to you.

I'll be your BM, I love weddings LoL

ITA!!

if your trying to help and they arent helping back, as for the first one, pick a dress online and tell her 'go to this store and get fitted for this dress' save youself the trouble and driving time.

as for the nasty shoe comment, i own 2 pairs and think they are very comfortable considering they are a heel. to be on the safe side go to the drug store and buy those pads to make them extra comfy, and try to break them in. i had to get one pair stretched and it was perfect. if she says anything else say 'maybe your feet are too big for them'
lol

They haven't even talked about dress prices yet - they are complaining about taking the LIRR to LI to even try them on!

I mean I choose the shoes because there were 16 five star reviews and all of the reviews said they were the most comfortable heels they have ever worn.

sorry you're going through this...

i think that a lot of the time, bridesmaids either don't understand how important and exciting everything is when it comes to your wedding OR are jealous. when i was my sister's MOH a couple years ago I think i just wasn't yet in the mindset of weddings and didn't really understand things. looking back I wish I was more enthusiastic for both our sakes, especially seeing how great she's been as my MOH already.
take the time to remind them how grateful you are that they're involved in your wedding and that you get to share this time with them... maybe they'll snap out of the jealously/blase attitude and be happy for you.

hope it gets better!

I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. Weddings can bring out the worst in people.

As far as the shoes are concerned, I own a few pairs of Badgley Mischkas - some are very comfortable and others are not. It really just depends on the shoe. Shoes that have more of a platform are usually more comfortable than shoes with no platform and a high heel. Strappy shoes can also be uncomfortable since they can be tight on your feet.

See I never interpreted it as jealous... I felt it was more condescending - you think jealousy? because they really have nothing to be jealous of lol.

well being condescending can stem from jealously, acting like your stuff is petty or not good enough when really they're (maybe even subconsciously) wishing they were going through the experience you're going through. like the comment about you not being able to buy that designer's shoes. like you said, now things are good for you and maybe things aren't awesome for her so she wants to kinda put you back in that place.

don't get me wrong i dont know the girls- i'm not saying that they're terrible people or trying to jump to conclusions. but maybe there's something going on where they're just not feeling the excitement for you yet, wherever it's coming from.

No, I'm still a newbie and joined after that planning started.

Sorry they are giving you such a hard time. The one that lives in queens seriously should not be complaining when you are going out of your way to come to LI. Also if your MOH was really trying to be helpful about the shoes she could have said it better. I would let them know how I feel. There is no reason to keep what bothers you bottled up.

I would love to be a BM too!

Re: Vent: Accepting Applications for Bridesmaids

I am going to have to agree with some of the girls & say I think there is some envy/jealous going on. I live in Astoria & have had to travel to LI a few times to plan things (keep in mind I don't drive) your BM has no reason to complain. The ride is not that bad or that expensive. She should be honored you asked her to be a BM.

As for your MOH she should not have replied the way she did there are other nicer ways she could have expressed her concern for your comfort. I really think people do not listen to themselves when they speak.

Are either of these girls married? I have come to realize that my unmarried gfs are quick to have comments/solutions to my problems that make absolutely no sense. At times the comments have aggravated me pretty bad but FH pointed out they have never been there so they don't know. That is the reason I love this site it is full of women who know exactly how I am feeling & what I am going through
