question about alterations

i had my 2nd fitting yesterday and just now remembered to ask this ....

when you went to your 2nd fitting, was the dress' seams pretty or still not finished? My hem was completely crooked (not fully sewn though so it's ok) and i was a bit nervous that it's as un-finished as it is.

anyone else have that experience?

Is it bad that I don't remember looking at the hems?
