Thank you girls so much for your opinions. I really appreciate your feedback and it is great to know I am not alone. I am going to take this down now, just in case. She is not a LIW bride, but might be a lurker.
The girls not in the BP made it clear the price is outrageous and they have assured us that they will accomodate our budgets.
Thanks so much! Rachel

Re: Question about B-parties
$800?!?!
I mean...I guess it depends on what is going on, but it is completely sh!tty for them to decide they aren't going to pay ANYTHING extra just because they are in the bridal party. They knew what they signed up for when they agreed to be a BM.
I wouldn't expect anyone who is not a BM to spend any more than $200...but then again I feel that is a lot. (We're also only going to Lucky Chengs and some bars...possibly staying one night in the city).
Does this $800 include a fabulous weekend getaway and someone to wipe your azz for you??? Coz otherwise I wouldn't be going

Re: Question about B-parties
I just came back from a B-party.
This is what we did for 20 of us. All rooms were split evenly among the 4 people who stayed in them. The BM's payed a little more to cover the expense of the bride's share.
For dinner's since we all ate and drank about the same thing it was split evenly among everyone except the bride obv. For the 1st nights dinner, since i owed more i figured out what i owed, then divided the rest among everyone.
I got deals so we didn't have to play for club fee's or anything like that.
Imo, if it's too expensive then i wouldn't go and plan to do something for the bride on your own. Esp. if the BM's are planning things that are going to jack up the price for everyone else.

Re: Question about B-parties
That's alot of money... what are you girls doing?
I would say no more than like 250 max and being in the bridal party you know you have extra expenses. The girls should Not make all these plans and not pay extra they knew what they signed up for

Re: Question about B-parties
last b-party i went to where i wasnt in the bp I just payed for myself. I gave i think like 80 to be in the limo and then payed for my meal which was like 40-50 with drinks (that may have included like 5 bucks for the brides meal not sure though) then we went out after and I just payed for my drinks. 800 p/p imho is INSANE for someone not in the bp and i would probably have a problem with that is my bp asked that of my friends. They agreed to be in the bp and if they are chosing to have an insane party they should be covering it you should pay for yourself and maybe a little more

Re: Question about B-parties
That's definitely a lot. I just went to a b-party in June, where I am not a BM. I think at the end of the night I probably spent around $200-250 (if I remember correctly, lol). But that's what everyone spent. I wouldn't expect the BM's to put in extra, I'd just expect everyone to pay an equal amount (except the bride of course).
But $800pp for a b-party I think is outrageous.

Re: Question about B-parties
Just my personal oppinion, but I am not a fan of asking anyone for that kind of money for a B- Party...

WOW, $800 is ridiculous whether you're in the BP or not. With all the money that the BP already has to spend and the guests, that is definitely too much to ask anyone to pay. Unless everyone is rich and can throw that kind of money around.

I should have said where we are going. We are going to AC for one night only. There are 12 of us, plus bride.
And if i drop out, I feel like my friends will all suffer and have to pay more! And I do not want the bride to have no one at her b-party! Has anyone been there who can offer suggestions?
you are going to AC for one Night and you ahve to pay 800 ... what does this include? does it include food, accomedations, travel, spending money? if not i think thats is very hihg price for one night!

Travel, hotel, (estimated) dinner cost, (estimated )brunch cost, cabanas at pool, tables at club, and misc cost for everything in between,
Its still an insane amount of money for 1 night!

Re: Question about B-parties
$800
Umm...I guess anyone can spend what they want, but I know I don't want anything crazy that would cost anywhere near $800, I think the $200 range is much more suitable (dinner, drinks, dancing) for my BP, and I would if I were expected to shell out $800 for a bach party, no way no how!

i have to agree thats insane ... i dont know how much it is for the cabanas at pool, tables at club but maybe you should suggest them to only pick one esp. if you guys are only going from one day/night ... i assume that is where most of the money is going to cause travel and the hotel shouldnt cost i would think no more than 250 and that is an high estimate ...

Re: Question about B-parties
I'd expect to pay about $150 for a bachelorette party. Any more than that and I doubt I'd be able to do it. $800 is outrageous and I think it'd be difficult to get people to agree to pay that much.
I organized my friend's b-party in October and her friends complained about paying $80 each on dinner and that would have paid for the bride as well as unlimited drinks for 2 hours!

Re: Question about B-parties

i know this topic comes up often but here it goes again...
How much it too much to ask everyone to pay for a B-party? I am not talking just BMs, but the rest of the girls who are going also. Do the BMs pay more than the rest of the people? Is it split evenly?
I ask b/c my friends b-party is coming up, i am not in the wedding, and it is going to cost about $800. Which i think is a lot. Her BMs are making all the decisions and then dividing the cost evenly. They are not kicking in anything 'extra' b/c they feel they are already paying a lot for being in her wedding. i feel as though if I am paying, i should be making the decisions.
thoughts?
$800.00?!?!? That is a LOT of money to ask from people! Where is this B-Party going to be if you dont mind me asking??
IMHO I believe that the B-Party expenses should be divided evenly among everyone who is going......I do not think it is the responsibility of only the BM's to pay for everything or to pay more than anyone else. It wouldnt be fair. They have other responsibilities as well, ya know? Which again, IMO do not think they really are responsible for in the first place.
Ive never been in a BP that I have had to help pay for the brides shower, ect (I have been in a lot).....EXCEPT my sisters which I offered too becuause she was my sister and I wanted to. I think it is the Brides/grooms families that should be responsible for bridal shower.....
$800.00 is a lot to ask of anyone though! Way too much but if you can afford it than do it but if not, tell them you cannot and that you can help in other ways like provide silly bach party games (if you want....do not hae to at all). They shouldnt be angry at anyone who says no!
