Question about bidding on more than 1 house

If you've had an offer accepted on a property could you still put a bid in on another property if you haven't gone to contract yet? You could still back out of the 1st one, right?

as long as you havent sign the contract you can still back out, you can also be outbid if you are just the first accepted so i would work quick if you are going to bid on a second house so you dont lose the first one
