Question about ceremony time?

Question about ceremony time?

Ok...so FH and I booked the church for 12:00 pm, and our reception starts at 6:30 pm, but we're starting to think if 12:00 is too early or not...the other option is 2:00 but that may be cutting it too short for photos and the drive out to Giorgios and misc stuff..just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were. Our reception runs till 1:00 am and I dont want guests and wedding party to be exhausted all day. On the other hand though, 12:00 might be good cause were geting to enjoy the whole day....just a little confused...

Re: Question about ceremony time?

how long is your ceremony? If it's under an hour, I think startng at 2pm would leave enough time for photos and such.

Let's say the ceremony ends at 3pm. That still leaves 3+ hours. If that's not enough, can you start the ceremony at 1pm?

Wow that is a long reception!!! awesome!

I think 2:00 would have been okay depending on your drive...12:00 is not bad though. People are most likely dedicating their day to attending your wedding anyway! Do what makes you and FH happy :)

Re: Question about ceremony time?

depends how far you are from church, church to pic location and pic location to RH.

My ceremony was at 2:30pm in astoria queens, ended at 3pm, after receiving line, a few pics and all that we headed to pic location in LIC, queens. Were there a little before 4pm or right around 4pm. Took pics for 2 hours and then around 6pm went from LIC, to mineola LI. There was alot of traffic but luckily had enough time. Got to RH around 7pm and ch started at 7:30

so from ceremony time to time we got to RH was 4 1/2 hours.

You just have to figure all of that out.

Also remember the earlier your ceremony the earlier you start your day with hair and make up. Make sure you are ok with that.

2:00pm would be perfect...

my CH started at 4:30pm and my ceremony was at 2:00pm we had enough time for receiving line, pics and cocktail hour ... my church was in queens and my RH was in the Bronx...if I did it in 2 1/2 hours you should have no problem with 4 1/2

how long did you take pics for, just curious. Bc just the time we did for pics was 2 hours and 15 mins to be exact.

Espo i love your hair!

to the OP: i think you should be fine with 2pm. Figure your ceremony will end at 3... that gives you 3.5 hours to get pics done (but time also depends on how far away your RH is)

I think noon is too early...my ceremony is at 230 and my reception starts at 6pm....we will have plenty of time to get it all done.

As a guest if I saw noon and then reception at 630 I might think about skipping the ceremony unless I lived close and could go home in between.

If I was a guest, I'd prefer 2.

I think 2:00 would be fine. Having your church start at 12 and reception end over 12 hours later is a VERY long day for you and your bridal party, especially, nevermind the guests!

oh you took pics at the rh makes sense. I think the OP said to go take pics and then to RH. So she needs extra time to drive from church to pic location then pic location to rh.

I think 12 is too early. 2 would be better!

Re: Question about ceremony time?

I have a similar issue Star.. My CH starts at 5:30 we are starting the cermony at 2:00-- its cutting it close for pics but I didnt want to have too much lag time for the guests.. it can be done in the time you have alotted. I made my CH 1.5 instead of 1 hr (with a 4.5 hr reception) so that guests wouldnt have as much time in between and we could still catch the last 1/2 or our CH hopefully...

Re: Question about ceremony time?

My sister had her wedding at Giorgios....got married at a church in Massapequa. Her ceremony started at 3:30pm and ch started at 6:30 pm which was fine.

Re: Question about ceremony time?

My ceremony begins @ 3pm and then reception begins @ 7pm, so I'd say you can move your ceremony later. that also saves you a TON on photography, videography & limo fees (who will charge you for sitting around in the in-between times) -- but still gives PLENTY of time for pictures I think. Just my opinion, good luck deciding!
