question about changing your last name....

FH and i are going to get our marriage license next week and I notice they say you should give them your new last name (hyphenate - whatever you decide to do).
I just realized I booked our HM flights (for 6 months after the wedding) with my current last name.
Any idea on what to do? Can i change the name on my flight without any fees or problems? do i wat til after the honeymoon and then submit a name change form??

and another question that might be really dumb....but once you get married do you get a new ID (license and passport) with your new last name? or can i still go through security with my current passport & license???

No you dont get a new license or passport. You have to go to DMV with your marriage license and change your name. You also have to go to Social Security and change it as well. Your best bet for your honeymoon is to leave your name as is on your license and passport until after. Thats what I am doing.

mee too, our honeymoon and flights are booked with my current last name, our travel agent said you need to do the name change after the honeymoon, I believe for the marriage license it should ask you what your name will become, and what it was.

We booked our HM under my maiden name so I just didn't change my name on my passport yet. Still haven't since I have since booked two more trips in my maiden name.

You can still use your old ID- license/passport with your maiden name until you apply for the name change and get your new documents.

ok so i can fill out my new last name on the marriage license but it wont be ligit til I put in a name change form??
