question about Chateau La Mer

I would certainly recommend looking around. Do a search here on Chateau La Mer, and you will find many mixed feelings, mostly negative if I remember correctly.

I wanted an affordable place on the water, but didn't really even consider Chateau La Mer after being dissatisfied with the place for my grandmother's surprise birthday party we had there before it became strictly a catering hall. Granted the view is spectacular, and the octagonal room is unique, but you want good food and service too. From what I recall the food was average or below. Maybe they've changed. But, when I called just to compare prices of places on the water in that general area for our wedding, I found them not so helpful on the phone. It almost felt like I was bothering them. And that confirmed my hesitations with the place.

We chose to go with John Anthony's in Babylon. They also have a tremendous view of the water, plus the bridges to Robert Moses. Many people here have given the place great reviews on the food and service, plus they are affordable.

I agree with you...we looked at Chateau La Mer befroe booking John Anthony's in June and it was horrible! The rugs were all torn up and nasty and the menu wasn't all that great! There really isn't that much of an outside deck to the place either. I had heard raves about the place a couple of years ago so when we got engaged I had wanted to look there, the guy was nice to us but the place just wasn't what we were looking for! Besides, their prices aren't that much cheaper than anywhere else!

Depending on where your located in the room determines if you have a good view or not!!! Technically the room faces a parking lot...they just angle it so the bride & groom's chair has the water behind it.
The windows totally make the place but the whole view isn't of the water! The majority is of the parking lot!
