Question about Donations as favors

I have a stupid question - when you want to do charitable donations as a favor - do you give all your guests' names and addresses to the charity??

We're thinking of doing donations - but I'm afraid that once the charity gets people's addresses, they will hound them every few months for donations. I don't want my wedding favor to be the reason people get 'junk' mail for the next 10 years.

No just make a donation in your own names

People make a lump sum payments and they should provide you with the announcements so you can give to each guest. Depending on the charity you can also specify that you do not want to be solicited. They should honor that.

I'm not making them in everyones name. I will attach a card that reads something like....In lieu of favors a donation has been made in memory of (FHs dad) We thank you for sharing in our special day.....or something to that effect. I didn't know that you can get cards to give out when you make a donation????

We did a donation to the Staten Island University Hospice and we put on the donation 'In the name of the wedding guests for Tracy and Jason's wedding, 9-21-02' - just do something like that. They sent us a beautiful thank you card. Your guests names don't need to be mentioned. I think a donation is a wonderful thing to do. Good luck!
