My cousin gave birth today to a little girl, Haylee Rose. She was 29 weeks pregnant and delivered a three and a half pound baby. They tried to stop the labor but today her water broke. She has been in the hospital since Monday. They gave her steroids to improve the baby's lungs. I just pray everything works out for her. Twenty nine and a half weeks isnt so bad to have the baby, right? She has been through so much in the last year I really want her baby girl to be okay. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice.

No, she sounds like she should be fine!!! She should be able to leave the hospital once she hits either 4 or 5lbs! Congrats to her!

My cousin delivered beginning of february when she was due end of march - the baby was only 3lbs - she was able to bring him home two days ago at around 4lbs 5 onces. It is tough but I am sure she will be fine and home before you know it.

If she got both doses of steriods then her chances of serious complications have been greatly decreased. Best of luck to your cousin and her baby.

I delivered at 29 week and had two shots of steroids. I am so glad I had the steroid shots, it made a world of difference. She was much smaller than you cousin's baby and at 5 1/2 months doing great! What hospital is she in? I am sure the baby will be in the NICU for awhile, that is where the hard part really starts. She will need lots of support from family and friends and lots of people to go back and forth to the hospital everyday with her. When she comes home, please tell her to FM me if she wants to talk or has any questions about it. Unfortunately, I am an old pro these days.

Thank you all for your encouraging words. She lives in Florida and is in a hospital down there. My Aunt flew down Wednesday as well as my cousin's FIL and MIL. There isn't a lot of family for her down there. My mom spoke to her yesterday and my cousin is sooo happy. The baby is actually off of the respirator and they told her she is doing remarkably well. I am just sooo happy for her. I dont want to go into what she has gone through, but she deserves to have a healthy baby! My cousin is coming home from the hospital Sunday. I was going to give her a call and see how she is doing. I will share with her the encouraging words I received. THANK YOU!!
