Question about engagement party

We are having a Sunday champagne brunch at a restaurant for our engagemnt party. Should we have small gifts for our guests? We are having 75 people. Also, should we have some kind of entertainment? We don't want a DJ. Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance!

Question about engagement party

I don't think gifts are expected at an engagement party. It is to celebrate your special news! I would just have some food and some music. Ask the restaurant if they could play some of your CD's. that is what we did for my sister's shower! People will have a good time getting to know each other from the two different families!

Question about engagement party

You shouldn't expect gifts and they shouldn't expect favors. It's just a celebration and get together. I'm jealous b/c I wanted to have one, but my FI is in Colorado and since our engagment is so short anyway, with a shower and the wedding I didn't want to apear greedy and have people think they needed to get us gifts and also didn't want anyone paying the extra expense.. Basically, just not enough weekends! Have a great time!

Question about engagement party

I didn't think favors were appropriate and a couple of 'old world aunts' made a comment to my mom. Just a heads up.

Question about engagement party

At my engagement party my sister made some chocolates and chocolate covered pretzels and put them in a bag and tied some ribbons around it. Everyone loved them and there were no complaints about not having a favor. It was a nice way to say thank you since everyone was very generous with the gifts they gave us. Good Luck

Question about engagement party

I am having close friends and family to my e-party in March. I decided to give a small favor. My best friend and I are making choclate lollipops and I am getting bookmarks that say Thank you for sharing this day with us. Most of my family and friends are readers so I thought it would be a nice touch. I am paying about $40 for 60 bookmarks. I got a few extra to give out to out-of-town family members who couldn't make the party. A friend of my parents gave out CD. I do not think they are necessary but I thought it would be a nice touch since many of them are coming from MA for the party.
