Question about Fatherless Brides Also!!

Question about Fatherless Brides Also!!

I don't speak to my father and haven't in a long time.... Even if I do decide to actually invite him to our wedding, there is no way in hell that he is having the honor of walking me down the aisle.. I was going to ask my Grandfather do me the honor, but he recently passed away before I had the chance.. Is it silly to have my mom walk me down the aisle? Has anyone ever seen that done before???

I don't think it is silly at all!!! I think it's a wonderful idea actually and I'm sure your mother would be honored to do so!

That is not silly at all. My mother is walking me down the aisle and she is so honored.

My mom a/k/a my best friend will be walking me down the aisle (its just been her and I since my dad died when I was 5). I wouldn't have it any other way - but just like bestfriends always do we are arguing about the song. She wants 'because you loved me' by Celine Dion. Not my style

My mom and my brother will be walking with me. Although its under different circumstances (my father passed away), I think it is completely appropriate for your mom to. I think this is one of the most personal statements (besides marrying your FH, of course) you make during your wedding, Go moms!

I hope so because that's what I'm doing. She's walkign me down the aisle and I'm having my 'father-daughter' dance with her too. I see nothng wrong with it - she apparently acted as your father as well as your mother all these years, it would be odd not to give her the honor.

My father passed away about 2 1/2 years ago. I'm having my mom walk me down the aisle. After all, she raised me too!

No way...that is so NOT silly!!! Your mother deserves this honor...

I also don't speak to my father...however I gave the honor of walking me down the aisle to my big brother...he made me cry when I asked him if he would...he said he was waiting for the day!!!!!!!

I asked my brother-in-law to walk me down the aisle and have my Mom come stand by my side to lift my veil and be the one that actually gives me away. I kind of wish I had asked her to walk me down, but I can't do that to my BIL now.

I am going to have a Mother/Daughter dance with her and she is very excited.

I am also having my Mom walk me down the aisle. She originally wanted me to have my brothers walk me down, but she has been both mother and father to me for the past 14 years (my Dad passed away when I was 12).

Wood2Be - I am also thinking about possibly doing a mother/daughter dance but don't know what song we would use... Do you already have one in mind???

I am still stuck on that. My dad was NEVER an optionl. My mom is sometimes, but other times she comes with a WHOLE lot of drama. So it is either my grandfather( who is never a part of anything we do), My MOH's husband, who when my older brother was killed he said that he would be my big brother,or ALL BY MY LONESOME, I figure that I do every other important thing on my own. I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

I think your mom would be really honored. My mom would probably have been exstatic. I asked my uncle to walk me down.
