So we just finished making the guest list and it occurred to us that one of our friends is vegan. Odd question but what do we do about people who are, or have allergies and such. Do they just tell the hall when asked for dinner or do we have to alert the hall before hand??
i would alert the hall when you pick your menu, and then remind them when you do your final count......they usually accomodate.....you'll have to tell them what table they will be at, and make sure you tell those guests to tell their waitor of their allergies or accomodations
I asked about that. You can always include a vegan dish in the selection. Some places will just do the vegetables of the day with a starch. Others may make specific dishes. My RH will make vegetarian meals, kosher meals etc because some of my guests are. You just need to let them know in advance.
yeah, call ahead and let them know so they put it in your file...they will definitely accomodate dietary requests!!! then remind them when you do your menu that you have a vegan guest, kosher, etc...
I would bring it up. Vegan and vegetarian are very different and while they probably have a standard vegetarian meal on the menu, they may need more time to prepare for a vegan one.
most definetely tell them about it...and it definetely helps when u let them know who it is, where theyre sitting....my mom & i need gluten free food & my RH is more than willing to accomodate our needs as well as my friend who is a vegetarian (the banquet mngr even said the vegetarian meal is a nothing thing, so simple to do for someone)
Definitely let them know. I know most RHs have a vegetarian option even if it isn't on the menu already. Whenever I go to weddings, i ask for this. Usually it is just roasted veggies, but it is still very good!
i believe they have a choice to ask the waiter for pasta and sauce ot chicken finger and french fries.
i would definitly call ahead of time to alert them because vegan is extrememly hard to prepare a meal for on the spot.. but im sure if given enough time you can make that a choice on your menu
Most RH's accomodate those that have special diets. Alert them of the issue in advance so that the person will have something that they like to eat. My RH is doing this for my Nana that cannot have green veggies and must have low-sodium!
