Re: question about genes
LOL do his parents have one? IF he didnt inherit it from a parent, I think its unlikely he'll pass it to a child.

Re: question about genes
lets get serious and talk alelles (sp) here. depends on if its a dominant or recessive trait (or if his bone just grew crooked due to a break, ill fitting shoes etc.) If it dominant and you dont carry the gene, 50% ... if its recessive and you dont carry the gene, 0%!!
I am a dork and looooved bio

She had a few tests done - she's newly pregnangt and had the phase 1 tests done....so she has to call for results...

Re: question about genes
From what I remember from 8th grade genetics, if a crooked pinky toe is actually a trait you can inherit, the gene would have to be dominant in order for your kids to have it. If it is recessive that means that it is a less likely chance of them inheriting this trait, being that both you and your FH would have to carry this gene for them to inherit the trait. Blond hair and blue eyes are both recessive traits which is why brown hair and brown eyes are more common, they are dominant traits. Dominant traits mean that only one person has to have the dominant gene in order for your children to inherit the trait

ok so our kids will NOT have blue or green eyes even though both our families have them, we dont

No they can, if you have one dominant and one recessive gene, and FH has the same, there is a small chance that your children can inherit the two recessive genes (one from your FH and one from you) and end up with blue or green eyes. Two people with brown eyes can have a blue eyed child because they have one dominant brown gene and one recessive blue eye gene each but two people with blue eyes can not have a brown eyed child because they both have 2 recessive blue eyed genes.

not necessarily true. you can both have brown eyes and carry a blue or green trait. if thats the case, there is a 25% chance of your kids having blue or green. all 4 of my grandparents have blue, my mom has green, my dad had brown = all four of my siblings and me have brown but we could still carry recessive traits and have kids with blue or green in the future! confusing but interesting stuff! Look up genetics and punnett squares.
