When you go off does your AF get much worse? I remember in HS I would get cramps so badly I couldn't move. I've been on the pill so long I can't remember what it was like before. I LOVE getting my period for 3 days and knowing exactly when it is coming. We will begin TTC in the fall so I'm thinking I have to go off the pill soon but I'm worried.

Re: Question about going off the pill
it really depends on the person....my cramps were bad (although not unbearable) my first AF off the pill.....they have been getting better each month and it's still about 5-6 days long, same as when I was on the pill. AF is still the same 'amount'...not more bleeding than when I was on the pill (sorry if that is TMI).

Re: Question about going off the pill
Betty it took a couple of cycles for mine to get back to being heavy, but my cramps did not return AS badly as they were when I was younger.

Nothing changed when I went off the pill, except that my cycles were a bit shorter.

Re: Question about going off the pill
I did not notice a change but my cycle did go to a 32 day instead of the 28 day. I was only off it for 3 months before I got pregnant and the first month off it was just like when I was on the pill.

Re: Question about going off the pill
Let me know how it goes Betty because I can;t wait to go off the pill. I am just really scared because my periods used to be awful, that is why I started the pill in the first place.

Re: Question about going off the pill
I'm worried about this also.
I was put on the pill at 18 because every other month when I ovulated on my left side I would get horrible cysts that were so painful! Luckily my period didn't start till I was nearly 17
Orthotricyclen cleared that right up and my insurance paid for it so it was great. It wasn't for a few more years before I started using it for its real use.
I was regular before and hope to stay the same when I go off, but I'm scared of having to live on advil and midol again.. well atleast there is aleve now and hopefully our TTC time will be very short

Re: Question about going off the pill
I have been on the pill since I was about 16. I remember the reason I went on was because of the cramps and the heavy flow. I have been off the pill since April and OMG this is the first month that the flow has been REALLY HEAVY and the cramps will not go away! I thought it would happen right away, but I guess my body needed two cycles to get back to normal.
