my FH and i are having debates weekly about what he should wear in terms of tie vs. cravat vs bow tie... tux with tails vs suit - it's an afternoon wedding in may. any suggestions? also, what about groomsmen.... and how late is it still feasible to sort out groomsmen attire? thanks!!!!

most now do wear ties, you dont really see bows done anymore. One bride did bow ties but i have to say went great with her theme but depends on how you do it.
I would go to a tux shop to get a better idea, it might help you to see everything in person and decide. Sometimes you have an image of something in your head but once you see it in person that might change. Its not too late to decide on gm wear.
DH did shadowstripe tux, with ivory vest and did a burberry tie. The gm did black tux, black vest and burberry ties. I didnt want the colored vest and tie that match but alot of ladies do that so thats an option too. Or you can do the white/ivory vest for your fh and gm with black on black and a colored tie. Theres lots of different options just depends on what you like best

I'm also having an afternoon May wedding. We automatically decided that we wanted to go a little less formal (especially since the ceremony is outdoors - weather permitting). We decided on a khaki colored suit with a tie and vest. Here's the suit the men are renting:
but it will have a vest. Most likely the ties will be green to match the BM's.
When I went to the tuxedo shop to have the order written up he said I was extremely early and could wait a few months if I wanted.

my DH and his best man and my brother (who walked me down the aisle) all did light colored suits. DH wore a pink tie (to match the flower girls) and the other two guys wore ivory ties. we just said the other day that doing the light suit was one of the best decisions we made. our wedding was in may during the day too!
we got the suits during the off season from banana republic for SUPER cheap. we figured everybody can get use out of it again in the future. here's a pic :)
