Ok since we have been discussing STD's I now have a new question.. ALL of FH's guests are OOT. If I block rooms at a hotel, do I have to give them a deposit? Do you think its even necessary to block rooms or can I just give out the name and phone #of the hotel?

Re: Question about hotels
I think the deposit thing depends on how the hotel's policies are. You block rooms and then by a certain date tell them the ones you actually need. It may not be necessary to block them but it'll usually give your OOT guests a discount from the regular price. Which will be really helpful for them since they've already got traveling expenses and whatnot that your other guests don't have to worry about.

Re: Question about hotels
i have called both the Marriott in Uniondale & The Wingate Inn...They do not require you to put a deposit down...I will be blocking off 10 rooms & then they will release whatever is not used 1 month prior to the wedding...
I think it is a great idea this way everyone from your wedding is in one hotel & they get a preferred rate...

Re: Question about hotels
I think at our hotel you give a rough estimate and they block it off... you have to give a cc# but I am not sure for what...in any event, by blocking we are getting a 30% discount, which is pretty significant.

Re: Question about hotels
Some hotels also offer reduced rates for the bridal suite and other incentives for booking rooms. If you more than 15 rooms at some hotels then they will provide a shuttle to and from the ceremony. You just have to speak to someone in the hotel to find out what options they have.

Re: Question about hotels
Huntington Hilton does not require a deposit for 30 or less rooms a night. If they all get booked, we can add more as needed w/o paying.
I think most hotels are that way.
ETA: It is definitely necessary to block rooms in your case, you have a very popular date and there are not that many hotels on LI.

Re: Question about hotels
I am using the Inn at Plainview, for my wedding and a friend of mine is using them as well and her wedding is at the Inn at Fox Hollow. They are changing the entire hotel to a Four Point by Sheraton. Going Nutty recommended the hotel to me and my GF
