Question about invites...help ASAP!

Question about invites...help ASAP!

Ok...I'm getting ready to place my order for my invitations (before they close for the holidays). I wanted all the parents names to be on the invite...so I had:

'Mr and Mrs. John and Sue Smith' (Bride's parents)

AND

'Mr. and Mrs. Mike and Sally Jones' (Groom's parents)

My mother said that it should be 'Mr and Mrs. John Smith' and 'Mr. and Mrs. Mike Jones'.

FH says that it should be 'Mr John Smith and Mrs. Sue Smith' and 'Mr. Mike Jones and Mrs. Sally Jones'.

AGHHHHH!!! I'm so confused...someone please tell me what the right way is....thank you!

I'm not sure if there is a right way or wrong way, but ours was 'Mr. and Mrs. John Doe' and 'Mr. and Mrs. John Smith'

I think it should be however you like! Personally, I prefer when you are saying both parents names - John and Sally Smith. IMO - the way your FH is suggesting makes it sounds to me as if the parents are not together!

Your mother's way is the standard I think. If you really want the mothers first names in it, then you could do it the way your FH suggested.

Why dont you do John and Sue Smith w/ out the Mr. and Mrs? Just a thought.

I agree with Mrswask. When you put Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Sue Smith it indicates that the parents are not together. My parents are divorced and I was told to do it that way for my e-announcements and wedding invitations.

My parents are divorced, his arent so our invitation said

Ms. Mary Jones
Mr. Ken Jones
and
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Smith

don't quote me, but I think if you list both first names (when the parents are together) you're going a bit more casual - Mr. and Mrs. Father's first name Last Name is more formal

ETA - def. not your FH's way if your parents are still married

I think it is a matter of preference, but I did Mr. and Mrs. Armando XXX and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph XXX, but writing the mothers' names is nice too.

Have you thought of putting Michael insted of Mike.

Ok...thanks ladies. I didn't like FH's way...because both of our parents are still together and it made them sound like they weren't. I will go with mom's way...although mom's names gets shafted...but if it's ok with her, I guess it's ok with me. I didn't want both moms to feel left out...thanks ladies!

I agree with Jess2 - 'Mr. and Mrs. John Doe' and 'Mr. and Mrs. John Smith'.

One more question...did you put the address of the hall or just the town, state. Because the address in on the direction card from the hall? Thanks again.

Re: Question about invites...help ASAP!

we are putting mr. john and mrs. jane smith

it saves space and we could care less about what should be done - we want people to address our moms by name.

i guess technically it's supposed to be mr. and mrs. john smith but who really cares?

Just the town and state, with the actual address on the direction card (along with the place's phone #, etc.)

Re: Question about invites...help ASAP!

I have mine set up like this:

Invitation - after the invitataion wording the next lines below are the Church's name and address (Street address, City and State).

Reception Card - has the name and address (Street address, City and State) of the Hall.
