I have two young kids in the bridal party (under 5 years old) But we decided to have no kids at the reception esp because its a late party. My flower girl is a cousin, she has a 5 year old brother and they are close with my other cousins who are 10. If we invite her to the reception then we have to have her brother and then we are goign to have to have the other cousins and if thats the case then FH has younger cousins too. What is everyone doing about their ring bearer and flower girls? are you inviting them? is there a nice way to not have them there?I dont even know where to start on this one.

Re: question about kids in the bridal party...
I am not having children at the reception but wanted them to feel like they were part of the wedding so 3 of my nieces are flower girls and my nephew and older niece are altar servers (Catholic wedding). Once the mass is over, we have family friends taking all the kids back home (where they are very excited to have a sleepover with their cousins). Their parents are very happy to have a night out without the kids too so everyone seems happy about it.

Re: question about kids in the bridal party...
We're having his niece as our flower girl, she's 5, no other kids, no exceptions, he has OLDER nieces and nephews, like 19 and 17, so I don't really consider them 'kids' but no small children, and people don't seem to have a problem with that, and if they do, they haven't told me!! :)

Re: question about kids in the bridal party...
I had my niece and nephew both six and they were the only invited children. Honestly they loved the spotlight but around 9ish they started to fade and the reception was over at 10 - so mom and dad who both were in the bp left around 9:45 which is just when they were going to collapse IoI
My cousin did bring his 5 month old even though they weren't invited - the child behaved AMAZINGLY so i didn't complain. People understand if the rb/fg are there because they are a part of the whole wedding. Many parents thanked me for not making it into a kiddie affair since they needed a night out. I think if we had an earlier affair we might of invited some more kids but that was a big IF.

Re: question about kids in the bridal party...
i think you should consider your reasons why you are asking them to be in your bridal party before you decide not to invite them... if the reason is because they are your family and you are asking them to be an important part of your day, then you should definitely invite them!

Re: question about kids in the bridal party...
I'm having my fg/rb at the reception because they will behave themselves. In the beginning FH and I decided on no kids at the wedding but unfortuntaly that fell apart but I won't go into details.
Whatever you decided make sure you and FH both agree and make sure you don't play favorites, whats good for one must go for everyone.
